The Cruel Tutelage of Pai Mei from Kill Bill is a solid pick as well. Accomplishes everything a montage is supposed to, while also being a bit tongue in cheek.

Is that like a French Commie boys club?

Russian Wheat Harvest all over again.

At the current price point it may not carry the same stealth wealth rep it did when these were $90k trucks, so you may be right. The design was also pretty tired at that point so it’s hard to say. Since these two models are now basically the same price I expect your typical family hauler buyer will opt for the LC.

This story needed a different author.

Ha, yeah I guess you can just lampshade it.  “Can’t believe the only cell tower in the county burned down last week!”

That movie was so effective at portraying the bone-weariness of being a parent when your kid just won’t let you rest, then asks you to imagine stretching that experience out for years.  No wonder the mom lost her mind.

He’s the twin clerks’ copy guy.

Yeah but if the premise doesn’t hold up to a bare minimum of common sense scrutiny it’s just too distracting. I get what you’re saying but it seems the only solution is setting certain movies in historical periods. Cell phones have wrecked a whole lot of once-plausible (even if it took some willing deniability) plots.

I also didn’t appreciate until reading this article that they aren’t just similar in size, they’re practically the same vehicle. Engine, wheelbase, transmission and only an inch difference in total length?

I get that buyers of cars like Maserati and afford the high ticket and have garages where they can charge. But I still struggle with the idea that every European buyer across the spectrum is going to be in that position in less than six years.

We’ll need years of reliability data and to see what kind of support they get in markets outside of China (or inside, for that matter).  The price point is compelling and concerning at the same time.

They’re friends, he doesn’t worship him or anything.

Add to it that local Chinese governments can issue debt to support real estate development in their markets and it gets even worse, because the defaults hit local budgets instead of overzealous lenders.

Seems like yet another movie where technology would torpedo the premise.  There just aren’t the excuses for not being able to reach someone that there were in the 90s, especially someone you’ve entrusted with your kids.

Any of the Poltergeist kids could be on this list, but obviously Carol Anne had it the worst so I’ll go with her (plus she’s the youngest).

Fair - even once people got over the content of the film itself there was always that permanent bit of nastiness.

Oof.

That doesn’t seem to be helped by the fact that so many of the former stars have wildly varying takes on the matter. Seeing them snipe at each other over the authenticity of their relative trauma is dispiriting.

I haven’t seen the doc but from what I’ve read it doesn’t sound like the problem was on-set behavior so I’m not sure what “child on set” announcements would accomplish other than making everyone feel like they were “doing something.” If there was abuse, favoritism, etc. it was happening behind the scenes.
