Swift? Beyonce? Eh, indifferent.

C’mon. Iran is Hamas.
I thought the bag of teeth and stick idols in the woods were pretty damn creepy as well.
I don’t think anyone other than hard-core horror aficionados had heard of Cannibal Holocaust prior to the release of BWP, though. It was called out after the fact as being the first example of the genre (and hideously gruesome).
Well by contract he can’t lose a fight, so it fits.
IIRC the witch was also contributing to their disorientation, which is what makes the one guy finally lose it (and really fuck them all over in the process).
That was also by far the cheapest way to make a movie - grab a bunch of unknown actors and run around with a JVC portable VHS camera.
It’s probably worth it from a general pop culture knowledge standpoint, and there ARE some legitimately frightening stretches. But it’s also a slow burn, with a lot of the impact coming from ever-increasing disorientation of the main characters and then a jarring ending.
I had already copied that exact quote to make a similar comment about. Tough as it is, none of the ME countries care about the Palestinians. Jordan remembers all too well that they attempted to assassinate King Hussein and overthrow the government for not being sufficiently militant against Israel. These countries all…
What does he care? He lost his license.
If the keg blows up, it will be pretty diffuse.
“Plemons was the best part of the movie.”
This just gave retailers an excuse to get out of their leases.
I had the same thought about the two states’ economies. Both could be entirely self-sufficient with their own resources, so at least access to food, energy, trade, etc. wouldn’t be a risk.
You didn’t think Ex Machina stuck the landing? I’m a bit more ambivalent about Annihilation but it was certainly a wild ride.
I don’t feel strongly about that element one way or another, but this sounds far less flat-out dumb than the first trailer made it look.
The scene in the trailer with Plemons makes it look like the federal government has basically retreated to DC and militias are springing up. I won’t speculate further since I haven’t seen it, but it looks and sounds like the joint objective of CA and TX is just to get to DC and depose the President.
I could see both states pushing back against authoritarianism, for somewhat different reasons. They’re also the states most capable of fully supporting themselves from within their own borders; energy, agriculture, ports, and of course major military installations / National Guard presence.
The once great champion, now a study in mopishness.
Yeah but he nails that one.
