Don’t be afraid to stark skimming during the sections that read like instruction manuals or natural science texts. You’re not going to miss some important detail stashed in there like an Easter egg.

Too many books assigned in school seem to fall into the “we do it this way because we’ve always done it this way” category. Catcher in the Rye is just not a great book, and if anything encourages an embarrassing degree of self-pity and navel-gazing. I liked Moby Dick but only because I read it as an adult and wasn’t…
Problem is, the humor has leached out of those observations over the years. Now he just seems angry and mean.
Of course the real joke is that the typical service worker would last about 15 minutes before someone dropped a citizen’s firing on them. I’ve seen people go nuts on employees who were trying to be helpful and taking heaps of abuse over things that weren’t their faults. Firings would be the new “get your manager.”
I used to enjoy Sedaris, but really haven’t gotten much out of his recent works other than he’s just very cranky. Bitterness without humor doesn’t make for a very compelling read.
Weight is weight, whether part of the car or driver.
No, I don’t put much stock in a single accusation. A public figure with a real pattern of questionable behavior is going to leave more of a trail.
Well, if she wants to appear in any more then I’m sure anyone filming a major film production is going to make cast and crew get the vaccine. Her best move at this point would be to post video of herself getting it, and confirming that she did not subsequently die of whatever the hell terrible things she thinks…
What you don’t know about Wakanda is it has very high measles and polio infection rates.
It’s the standard that news media has bred us to accept. “Some are saying...” and single anonymous sources have become the hurdle for reporting.
I love that she felt she needed to confine herself to a hotel room in order to contain the potential drug freak-out.
The second part of your comment is what really rams home the idiocy. Literally everything we’ve been doing for going on nine months has been about limiting the numbers of infections and deaths until a vaccine is available. 250k deaths and we should be more worried about what’s in a FDA-approved vaccine?
Wasn’t his job at that point to be a shit-stirring edgelord? Not exactly an excuse, but I don’t think anyone believes he was actually advocating for the things he was joking about.
Asking someone else to prove a negative, always a sign you’re dealing with a rational person.
A lot of his strips take a moment of thought to get, so I’m not surprised people arrive at all kinds of wild interpretations.
I have to assume anyone who arrives home to discover their dibs spot occupied is going to just fuck that car up something fierce. A car with smashed windows can hold a lot of snow.
Yeah, I always just assumed it was a face-value joke about being rich but not content, and Larson used cows because he likes to do that sometimes.
Clean out the whole street and run an action on that block. “Parking chairs! Get your parking chairs here! More heavy snow on the way!”
I expect that happened to me more with Far Side than every other strip put together.
I think this was the first Far Side comic I saw, and was instantly a fan for life. Larson distilled absurdist humor down to its bare essence.
