Just my own anecdote here, but I dated a guy who was a very heavy drinker. We both drank quite a bit together actually. Anyway, he was never physically violent with me in the two years off/on we were together.

A group of friends and I rented out this massive house for a ski trip ending with Super Bowl Sunday one year. We drank so much over that week that we were building little castles out of beer cans. We had paid the additional cleaning fee for a couple hundred dollars that meant that we could leave the house as is.
