That is very true actually and makes me less okay with my stupid phone key.

Good point!

You don’t have to take a fob out of your pocket on most newer cars. Even on my 2015 Mustang, I leave the fob in my pocket and as long as the car can detect it’s there the doors and trunk open with touch sensors in the door handles.

Looking at Tesla’s website, they sell the fobs for the Model 3/Y for $175, and you pair it yourself through the app, so no programming charge. That’s what I would do.

Nothing is wrong with a fob...if the phone key worked 100% of the time it’s better since you don’t have to fumble around for keys when your hands are full. I’m on the fence here...would I rather have fob that works 100% or phone key that works 98% of the time. 50-50 for me because the 2% drives me nuts.

From what I’ve seen, ALL the phone-as-a-key systems kind of suck. What was wrong with a fob?

21 Tesla Model 3 - bluetooth phone key. 98% of the time it’s great. 2% of the time, especially with hands full of groceries, it fails and you have to take out your phone and launch the tesla app manually and then you can open the doors. Drives me nuts. Possibly a great feature implemented too soon to be robust.

The RX-8 is a fantastic idea.

That’s my worry. A $5K bike that weighs 60 lbs. You can’t leave a decent pedal bike parked out of your sight as it is, now you have an extra 40 lbs to roll around. Every homeless bum in my area has an ebike already it seems.

This is one of the big things that made me want to try the VanMoof, so I’ll definitely see if I can find out more about them!

After you’ve had actual experience with the bike, what are your thoughts on their theft prevention claims?

To point to an actual car built today that I like the idea of in the US....

Mercury Milan. You could get the premium interior with a 6MT. I don’t think that combo was available in the Focus.

I miss my old Toyota Corolla wagon.

Suzuki Jimny, as least sold here in the states.

Fiesta ST

They should have just made a longer wheelbase version of the Taurus and called it the new Town Car.

I’d say every Lincoln in recent memory. I don’t think anyone knows they exist other than people who are auto fans.

How about the 8th gen (1980-82) Ford Thunderbird?

The Cadillac Catera. Cadillac’s effort to bring in younger buyers with an Opel-based sedan was accompanied by a huge marketing campaign featuring a duck for some reason. Both failed.
