The F35 has many advantages over its 4th gen rivals such as stealth, range and detection capabilities but the real question is, is the cost worth more than a 4th (or 4.5) generation aircraft? Both the F35 and 4th gen aircraft use the same weapons so it comes down to missile quantity and who gets the first shot.
