You personally don’t have to totally give up butter, but if global society reduced dairy use even just by 50 percent in the next 10 years it would have a significant climate

Depends on the country, and the legal framework can change over time. Not saying it’s a silver bullet, but it’s definitely one of the tools in the box, and if the floodgate opens, look out. Recent evidence is the Urgenda decision in the Netherlands, and the RWE case in Germany is also progressing through the system.
