I wasn't a fat kid/teenager(although I thought I was a fat teenager because of being a size 7 in a ballet class full of size 0s, 1s, and 2's), but I am a very solid size 18 pants and at least a 2x shirt(38H cup bra will do that) now. I am trying to get back in shape(not skinny, just healthy) and i have a hell of a

I asked because I had some friends who came home from college over winter break and were suddenly allergic to their dogs/cats. Who knows. Allergies are weird.

Did you go for a period of time without living with a dog at 15? It may be that you were always mildly allergic, but the constant exposure to the dander kept the symptoms in check. Similiar to allergy shots.

I have a food intolerance to mushrooms. I know its not an allergy(yet), but when I'm dining out its much easier to just say that I'm allergic. I have gotten sick from mushroom cross-contamination, I just don't have the anaphilactic response.

And sand. Don't forget the sand! and cat food and cat toys and cat fur and grass and bugs. Wow! Lazy Parenting FTW!

Same here. Played in the ravine and creek by my house, kissed/ate fur of the cat, let the cat drink out of my water/milk glasses. No allergies except to penicillin and Ceftin and a food intolerance to mushrooms.

I always thought it was counter intuitive to recommend furry animals in infancy and toddlerhood to prevent environmental allergies, and then recommend avoiding food allergen triggers until the age of 3 to prevent food allergies.

Mine has paid off too. My 9 year old has no allergies and has only missed one day of school for illness. So far my 18 month old has no allergies and has only been sick once.

That probably includes lunch money for the week. My son's rural elementary district charges $2 for a hot lunch.

The kids don't need them in school(but I'm sure parents and even administration would be glad if they had them during a columbine type of situation), but they do need them on the walk/ride to and from school, which means that they have to have them at school(although they do not need to be on). My local high school

It's probably a geographic thing. I'm in the rural midwest, so there actually aren't too many moms who consider themselves attachment parents anyway, so I have a small sample size.

Gotcha. I don't know of anywhere in the greater Chicagoland Area that has that. I can see this being useful in a high security closed stacks situation(I'm thinking like the Library of Congress), otherwise it seems like very expensive overkill.

That could be, but most of the moms I know who consider themselves Attachment Parents use actual slings and kind of stick their noses up at other type of carriers.

My daughter always preferred the stroller when alert and the mai tai style carrier when sleepy. I never used a sling. I don't think they're secure enough to use hands free like the mai tai carriers.

With both of my children, they and I slept better once they were in their own rooms. With my son I started at about 2 months. Within 2 days he was sleeping through the night. He was in a cradle not in our bed. I don't think bed sharing is safe on western beds(I realize it is safe in countries like Japan where people

I don't think they actually shelve the books. I'm a librarian, and we don't have one at my small(rural) library, but I've seen them. They actually check-in and sort the books by scanning the barcodes on the books' covers and place them in appropriate bins(adult fiction, adult non-fiction, picturebooks, Young Adult,

I worry about this happening. My son just skipped a grade. He will only be 16 when he graduates high school. Our local high school has about 7 feeder elementary districts. His grade school has at least 4 classes in every grade too. I doubt very highly that his senior year girlfriends(or boyfriends, he's only 8 so who

I don't know about that. i know some pretty great teens. They're respectful, polite, when they disagree they don't go straight to screaming and cussing. Most of their Facebook posts are about missing their friends or that the baseball team is going to state. When they do say terrible things about someone it tends to

I had my honeymoon there. There are a ton of upscale restaurants, and Pleasure Island was still open when I went there. We bought an inclusive plan with meals, so we didn't have to worry about anything when we were down there besides alcohol and gift shop stuff. It was wonderful, and wearing the bride and groom mouse

They allow it at their after hours parties. Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and the now defunct Pirate and Princess Party. Little kids can dress up anytime.
