My grandfather abused his wife and children, so there was not even a sorry excuse on that end. He was always just a deeply misogynistic and racist person. I’m sorry about your Papa and hope your niece is doing well.

Not sure he could hear me over the Fox News he constantly blasted.
They’ve had some bad takes in the past, at least in my view, but this conversation is something I’d expect from a racist troll, not an active, longtime member of the Kinja community.
Especially because he could have tried to help them as a father, without using official Crown resources. A parent not taking one of their children’s calls, especially when that person is in crisis, is brutal.
I know this is obvious to most people, except apparently the ones at Good Morning Britain, but having a black family member doesn’t make you suddenly an expert in racism or even slightly less racist.
I just want to comment with a <3 and support. Mortal Dictata has some very bad takes here. They’re doing their best to ignore and invalidate the racism at place here and like... bold for someone who spends all of their time on Jezebel. Also, the “actually you’re the racist ones” bit at the end of their last argument…
I didn’t hear about his remarks about George. That’s terrible.
Yeah, for a hot minute it sounded like he was really stepping in as a parental figure for Meghan... which was obviously not the reality :((
I’m the same way. I really lean on makeup and nice outfits--past the point of overdressing--to give me a confidence boost when I’m depressed. They help me feel like a person again.
My fiance* watched the interview with me and that’s the comment he kept making, that every comment made the royal family sound more and more like a cult.
I’m with you on the Charles turn. So far, I’d mostly heard about how supportive of H&M he was, especially around the time of the wedding. I was surprised to hear how cruel he’s been to them through this.
By the way they described their shock and disappointment, I think it was Will or Charles. Someone close to them and without a history of overt racism (looking at you, Phil).
Wow, that interview basically confirmed what I’m sure a lot of us thought was happening behind the scenes, but it was really heart wrenching hearing them confirm it. I wish Harry and Meghan all the best and I can’t wait for the palace scramble to do damage control in the coming days. They’re going to need it.
Counterpoint: if it was a warm day, no tights is vastly more comfortable than wearing tights. It’s ridiculous to force a small child to be uncomfortable because of “tradition.” That has nothing to do with Hollywood or Instagram.
I’m glad somebody posted this! It’s what immediately came to mind for me, lol.
I’m so sorry. That is horrific and unacceptable.
I didn’t make that jump, but I guess I did start to make two arguments and didn’t link them clearly enough.
I’m so sorry that happened to you. Along with racism and sexism, high BMI is just one more reason for doctors to dehumanize—and frankly abuse—their patients. (And yes, of course, not all doctors, but more than enough to create systemic issues.) Your story in particular reminds me of the deeply dehumanizing,…
Oooof. I’m glad you got that second opinion!
Doctors like this seriously need to get their licenses taken away.
