Has the EPA indicated that this is in fact another undisclosed AECD (aka defeat device) that utilizes steering angle and other inputs to alter the engine/aftertreatment control?

Of course they show this after I ignore my FCA employee discount and buy another S4... The Challenger is by far my favorite looking American muscle car; would love to have this.
A guy at my company entered his in the company car show. While my buddy and I walked past, it he hit the remote frunk release and said something like “Check out the huge engine...” He thought he was being clever, but we work for a large engineering company that produces engines for on-highway trucks. Needless to say,…
Nothing in here about an OBD recall?
The trick cup holder also has a tendency to get stuck if you ever spill any soda on it.
I completely agree, which is why I just traded in my ticking time(ing chain) bomb B7 for a CPO B8. I miss the sound of the V8, but I enjoy not stressing about what $1000+ repair is coming at any moment.
They can be had in B5-B7 guise if you’d like. And as someone who’s had an S4 with the 2.7T, 4.2, and 3.0T I can say the B6/B7 sounds the best. And I think the B6 was probably the best looking S4 Avant they’ve sold, at least from the rear.
I’m torn between the RS6 and RS4 Avants as my white whale, depending on whether I can convince myself that I can live without a manual.
An APR-chipped S6 makes the same amount of horsepower with about 100 lb-ft more torque. Though there goes your Audi factory warranty. But it’s a high strung German sports car, so it’s not like reliability is poor or repairs are expensive...
While the engines in the B6/B7 S4 and the B7 RS4 are both 4.2L V8s, they are not the same engine. The RS4 motor includes FSI and a host of other differences.
Hop into my ‘06 S4 on a Sunday evening to drive home from my girlfriend’s in Chicago. It starts to rain, so I hit the wipers. They go up about one third of the way and then quit. Leave it to Audi to design a wiper transmission linkage that rusts and seizes...
I’d recommend installing Linux instead, should run faster and without as many issues.
A shot DPF but no Check Engine Light? That’s a big no go. Sounds like their OBD systems are nonconforming too.
The 3.0T in the latest Audi S cars has a similar supercharger/intercooler setup. It’s also susceptible to poor cooling circuit bkeeding, especially on the Stage 1/2 cars.
I don’t know light duty, chassis-certification procedures very well, but in heavy duty, engine-certified diesel applications the emission test procedure includes a cold FTP cycle that accounts for 1/7th of the emissions numbers for an engine. And in SCR applications like the MY16 VW engines in question in this…
All certified engines have auxiliary emission control devices. From the regulations: “Any deviation from low altitude emission control practices must be included in the auxiliary emission control device (AECD) descriptions submitted at certification. Any AECD specific to high altitude must require engineering emission…
