I would LOVE a new series of Universal monster movies with interlinked characters. Of course, I'd want them to be done as horror movies and not knock-off superhero films.

Factor in the trailer that makes it look like a terrifying monster film, and I can start to understand it. It's a pretty egregious bait-and-switch. And from our other conversation, I think you know I appreciate the movie even if I'm frustrated with it.

Want your mind blown? Dracula in Van Helsing is Richard Roxburgh, the same guy who plays the Count in Moulin Rouge.

Van Helsing gets my nod for worst studio film ever made. There's not a good decision anywhere in that film.

Wait, what's the third? This, Dracula What the Fuck Ever, and…

"I can't figure out what their rush is"

Except that most (nearly all) of our box office hits are huge hits in China as well.

Without having seen the film, I can't be sure, but I expect there's a bit of a curve affect on the feeling of overseas audiences. When they go to American films, for the most part, they're going for the big spectacle, regardless of plot. That's probably a language barrier as much as anything else.

Wow. That's quite the edit from your original post. For the record, I'm no fan of Manson either.

I guess that's possible, although they also make a very definite point of saying the disease manifests physical symptoms in a day, and they're into a least a week span.

Those are all fair points. And furthermore, someone pointed me to the NYT review where the director admits intentionally drawing those parallels, so I was clearly taking it a step too far. Apologies.

I've talked to a number of people who worked with the Muppets, even as grips, and they all say the same thing. About five minutes into the day, you're not working with puppeteers, you're working with Kermit and Miss Piggy.

Fair enough.

I think the rudeness is uncalled for.

Bravo. Great write up.

You can't educate people by shielding them.

So no one should perform Julius Caesar for the next four years with a blond lead?

Because if I was running a company, I would definitely make a habit of poisoning my customers.

C'mere, we have some news about those shadows to share, my friend.
