You don’t get to 500 million enemies without making a few friends.

I think they could’ve gotten away with it. The version of Speed we got is probably funnier and more fun than Beverly Hills Cop 2, so I don’t even think they would’ve had to mess with the tone too much. The major dramatic moment that makes the middle of Speed kind of a downer could pretty much be lifted right out of

“George Burns was right--show business is a hideous bitch-goddess.”

Hoochie and the Blowfish

Daenerys was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She was then transferred to Maester Qyburn’s hospital, where necromancers upgraded her condition to “Alive.”

“Sorry about your divorce.”

I don’t think the 2019 Pet Sematary is completely successful, but I respect that the filmmakers seemed to understand what’s interesting/compelling about the source material. Some of the changes (including the major change) worked for me because they seemed designed to adapt the book in a way that would play better

I think Pet Sematary is actually an extremely hard book to adapt well to film. The heart of the novel is being inside of Louis Creed’s head . . .

The Lawnmower Man is even less related to the source material than The Running Man, which is really saying something. With The Running Man, you can at least give a one-sentence summary of the premise that applies to both the book and the movie.

Split the difference--Kerry Washington.

Jason Takes Manitoba

Alfred is a key player in the ever-expanding MCU (Manservant Cinematic Universe).

Hicks and his endless one-liners . . .

Normally that would feel like a narrative contrivance, but they’ve spent so much time dramatizing the inefficient Imperial bureaucracy that it might be the likeliest explanation.

If dead people are eligible I have to advocate for former Pistons head coach Chuck Daly.

Long after the thrill

The Daley Show, showcasing the legendary wit of former Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley.

I think you put your finger on why I’m not getting through this season—they’ve crowded out a lot of their usual storylines/characters to focus heavily on Charles/Diana. That would throw things off balance even if the Charles/Diana stuff was good. But I don’t think the final demolition of a clearly failed marriage is
