I don’t think the 2019 Pet Sematary is completely successful, but I respect that the filmmakers seemed to understand what’s interesting/compelling about the source material. Some of the changes (including the major change) worked for me because they seemed designed to adapt the book in a way that would play better…

I think Pet Sematary is actually an extremely hard book to adapt well to film. The heart of the novel is being inside of Louis Creed’s head . . .

The Lawnmower Man is even less related to the source material than The Running Man, which is really saying something. With The Running Man, you can at least give a one-sentence summary of the premise that applies to both the book and the movie.

This started out as a Phase One script called Captain Lou Albano: New World Order, which would’ve brought WCW and WWE characters into the MCU, but unfortunately Albano passed away before they could move forward with the project.
