Also, if you factor in inflation (which is a little circular because gas prices are factored into inflation rates), $3.55 a gallon in 2012 dollars is $4.28 in 2021 dollars. It’s a bit painful right now, but nowhere near as bad as it was a decade ago.

Instead of a commuter EV, I think a plug-in hybrid is a better option. 40-50 miles on a charge, with a gas engine as a fallback for longer trips. Most the benefits of a commuter EV, but with fewer downsides. That’s one reason I’m looking at a RAV4 Prime whenever I can buy one for MSRP or less.

Back in the spring, I was seeing some 2021 model year Bolts getting down in the sub-$30k range after incentives, and the 36 month lease options were just insanely cheap. I’m thinking that once production is up and running in 2022, the Bolts will be a hard sell due to their previous battery issues and things like slower

Not bad for the price, but these days if you are shopping for a car charger you probably want to get at least one USB-C port that support Power Delivery.

Note to Toyota: Now that production is up and running full steam again, make some damn RAV4 Primes, please.

There’s a surprising lack of purple manual-transmission PT cruisers in this slideshow.

Because I just didn’t want to attempt to time it by trying to guess where the low price will be. I didn’t buy a lot of shares, so the difference is probably only going to be a few hundred bucks between buying now and waiting. Plus I had some other stocks that were up for the day so I wanted to sell them while they

It didn’t start selling on E-Trade until a little after 10 AM PST. I went ahead and sold some other stocks to free up some cash to buy a few shares, just in case it pulls a Telsa long-term. Figure I’ll lose some money short term as tends to happens with big IPOs like this, but I tend to buy and hold and it has worked

SEA and PDX have two major issues when it comes to snow and ice, aside from people just not being good at driving in those conditions:

Depends where you live.

I don’t have a place to change an EV at my apartment, either, but hopefully we can get a place with a garage when the housing market gets a little more normal soonish.

Yeah, I live in the Seattle area and we have so many Model 3 and Model Y Teslas on the roads that they have pretty quickly gone to it being cool to seeing them to them driving around to them basically being like Camrys and RAV4s. A lot of the novelty is gone, especially now that Mach-Es and ID.4s are starting to pop

If the new Texas abortion law is upheld by the Supreme Court, I hope some state starts take the opportunity to pass a law where citizens can report shit like this and get $10,000 bounties.

I just wish they would stop with the stupid $1000-$2000 surcharge to get a non-boring color. Of course the other auto manufacturers aren’t much better since a decent color often requires buying an options package that is as much or more of an upcharge.

We all know who this is intended for:

Like I said, I’m sure that if is becomes a big enough issue there will be a market for CCS adapters. Maybe Nissan might even be convinced to produce and OEM version.

True, but I wonder if that will have much of an impact on Leaf drivers. They seem to be concentrated on the coasts where EA has already built out their network pretty heavily, and the future EA build out looks like it is planned for more rural areas that don’t currently have much EV ownership.

All the new Electrify America stations that I have seen installed near me have one CHAdeMo plug, so that should actually help a lot with the availability of fast-ish charging for the Leaf.

Reminds me of when they used them for worm props in the Doctor Who story The Green Death.

The Lynch ones were ribbed for mutual pleasure, though.
