Cinderella didn't get a makeover to impress a boy. She just wanted a night off. She wanted to get dressed up and go to a party she was invited to and when she got there, she met a boy. She never actually cares about a love interest or romance before she goes to the ball and meets someone.

I'll also defend Sleeping Beauty which had one of the best ever Disney villains, full of control, power and strength and who happened to be a woman.

I really don't think this is going to be the feminist masterpiece the people involved in it are trying to make it out to be. Her costume is just one reason. It's not just about who the director is; after all, George Miller made one of the best feminist films in recent years.

Man, I would have loved if the movies were, instead of being straight adaptions of the books, just a glimpse of the story through the eyes of the adults. Imagine Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith just sitting in a teacher's lounge, debating how has the shitter students.

The giants could have been so interesting based on what we knew about them before the fifth book. Madame Maxime's self-loathing was such a curious plot point and we basically got 'Meh, they're terrible and here's a super slow one to prove it. But you have to like him because he's related to Hagrid.'

To be honest, all of the movies were disappointments to me. All of them seemed to say 'Look, you've read the books, you know what's going on and we really don't have time to show it so just, fill in the blanks.'

Like, I don't want to hate the women. I would love some strong women in this show. I say bring in Grace O'Malley to show these little girls how it's done (if the writers don't feel up to actually bringing in a female character with as much punch as they did with Teach, I happily volunteer to write her!).

Agreed. Anne is a great character when she's on her own or with Jack who is a great balance for her. I just remember one scene of them sitting in the brothel eating dinner and looking miserable, not even looking at each other. They never had a scene where they actually talked as a couple or in general, it was always

I was devastated to hear about Caroline Aherne, even though I knew it was coming. She was hilarious. Denise in The Royle Family was several people I've met in my life.

Man, it annoyed me how much that went nowhere. Grawp was the worst thing about the series for me.

I do love Anne, who is a tough but lovable character but just not when it came to Max. I just couldn't stand that pairing because it didn't make any sense. Anne saved Max in the first season because she didn't think it was right what Vane's men were doing to her and in the second season, it became about because she

But no one knew that the Tyrells were her enemy, did they? On the outside, the Tyrells and Lannisters were all friends. The only enemies she had inside that sept that anyone knew of were the Faith Militant and they were enemies to lots of people. The lower classes could genuinely think that Cersei is devastated over

Besides, now people can drink in the streets again and go get some whores without the Faith Militant being dicks about it. The people of Flea Bottom rely on small pleasures, most of which the Faith Militant took away from them. They're probably not happy about the destruction of half their city or that they won't get

I did enjoy how the piano sounded somehow uplifting when the Septons were taking their seats and the High Sparrow was looking around proudly. Like we were watching something wonderful about to happen like he thought as opposed to something dreadful like we knew.

I basically wrote a book in response to another comment if you want to look for the answer but basically:

This ended up being way, way longer than I planned but no one else lets me talk about Black Sails.

You've just made me realise that no one actually knows what happened in the Sept because everyone died. Cersei could totally claim that it was an attack out to get her too but she just hadn't arrived yet. Either way, she can claim ignorance and pledge to fix King's Landing in order to endear people to her reign. She

I think she also had it made in black because she knows she's going to have to act in mourning very soon.

I love Black Sails but I would argue that it was pandering to what it thought its audience was from the second season and its done a huge disservice to its female characters in doing so.

Yeah, but everyone's murdered someone on this show. Even Tommen got in a kill, it just happened to be himself.
