Lifehacker doesn’t write “news” - they write educational articles. So that may be why you’re confused.

Two books which might make good nominations:

Why do you assume this article is about being rejected for a job? There are many other kinds of rejections. Such as:

That’s awesome. I wonder if that also means that they have to accept passwords which are equivalent on a telephone pad? e.g. adgjmptw is the same password as BEHKNRUX.

Why is it always banks that seem to have the worst password requirements? My Steam account is way more secure than my bank account because my stupid bank won’t accept more than 12 characters.

I get around this by not storing my full password in the password manager. There’s a bit I add onto the beginning of the password before I paste in the rest of the password from the manager.

Spot on advice.

Far from being bad, I’ve heard lots of advice to check your 401k around once a year or so. It’s to avoid the temptation of selling if there’s a big downturn in the market, I think. So you’re doing great!

With a CS degree, $60k-$70k is normal in my area. $100k for 5 years experience is also normal here.

I dunno about that, man. Who is wealthier:

What about soap at sinks? I know some people keep bar soap at all their sinks, but the idea of touching a bar that dozens of other people have washed with doesn’t appeal to me. I’d much rather have the liquid dispenser.

I mean... some of the stuff on those sites might fall under abandonware, but Vimm’s Lair literally has ISOs of Wii/PS2/Gamecube games for download. Galbadia Hotel lets you download the soundtrack for Persona 3, which is currently available on amazon for $25 (for example).

Hotel Le 123 Sébastopol in Paris had by *far* the best freebies I’ve ever received. Our fridge was stocked daily with soda, juice, and bottled water which cost nothing. There was a movie room in the basement where you could choose from a ton of movies (the hotel itself is movie-themed and very cool) along with free

I did a practice run of this Chocolate Orange Fudge Cake this weekend. It was quite tasty, so I’ll be sharing it with mom on Sunday!

Vimm’s Lair, Internet Arcade, Console Living Room, and Galbadia Hotel are all piracy as well.

Canja - a Brazillian soup my mother in law makes for anyone who is sick. It’s kind of like chicken noodle, but with rice instead of noodles:

Also by the security dudes constantly droning into a mic: “No photo.... No video... No photo... No video...” And then the tourists all ignoring this advice anyway.

I wish I could turn off the “In case you missed it...” stuff too. I just want a simple list of tweets from the people I follow in chronological order. I don’t need a damn algorithm deciding what to show me.

Yep - you only have to go back to the year 2000 for your scenario. Dotcom crash knocked out a lot of tech jobs for years.
