How is it unethical to hire someone who has committed a crime?

The miners are providing a valuable service though. They’re verifying transactions in Bitcoin. Without them it wouldn’t be possible to know who owns which bitcoins.

It’s fine not to have a “passion”. Some of us are good living simple lives without a need to find meaning in the universe, or build a legacy, or whatever. Enjoy your books! Enjoy your friends! Don’t waste your life being miserable because you’re not Shakespeare or Michelangelo.

If I’m not making an active effort to remember my dreams, I forget them within minutes of waking up. I even forget the fact that I’ve forgotten.

If corporations didn’t have to pay that tax, they could use the money to attract job-seekers away from their competitors. Which matters in industries where labor is scarce (software programming, pharmaceuticals, petroleum engineers).

Don’t understand the implication at the beginning of the article that high income inequality leads to a “garbage economy”. Do countries with flatter income distributions have better wage growth? More jobs? Richer poor people?

First you tell me I need to stop buying a new iPhone every month to afford health insurance, now you want to take my $22 breakfast avocado toast? Is nothing sacred to Gen X’ers and Boomers??

That’s just like, your opinion, man.

The ideal sandwich form is actually a burrito. The average fillings are better than a traditional sandwich (beans, rice, guac, salsa, pulled pork > lettuce, tomato, mayo, deli meat), the carb : filling ratio is better, the sauces are better.

It’s fine to have a social welfare program for elderly people who can’t afford retirement. But let’s call it that and have means-tested social security rather than continue this madness of forcing people to save their money with the government rather than invest and save as they please.
