I really don’t think this is the case. I’ve worked in media for 20 years. Reporters who cover the police beat have daily access to reports, criminal investigation briefings and medical examiner updates. When kids are killed, it makes the news. (When anyone is killed, it’s news.)

I actually think those deaths are covered by media, but fail to raise the ire of their communities.
