Here in Texas, the only lawful sex ed is abstinence education. And it’s a huge state.

I see it differently. I live in Texas. For 20 years, the only sex education in public schools has been Abstinence Only Education. Yes, children learn about reproduction in biology classes. But nothing else.

Forty years of peer-reviewed research is pointing toward pornography framing how young adolescents see acceptable sexual behavior - and there is a enormous amount of porn that depicts women being slapped, backhanded, choked, gagged and basically manhandled. It’s a problem.

Holy Christ. This sounds terrifying. Also: I have always suspected that law enforcement believes that lesbians (or women they *think* are lesbians) are crazy and trustworthy. This story does little to reassure me. (Not that you owe anyone any kind of soothing. YOU deserve some peace. All the peace.)

Same here.

I love Chip & Jojo.

Just wanted to express my embarrassment over misspelling his name. And to say happy that you beat cancer.

Hey, thanks for this. I have FIVE friends who have had abortions.

A family member was eight months pregnant when her baby had died in utero.

Yup. She designed half of a duplex and put in a pallet wall. He had the contractors pry it off the wall, like the gaping asshole he is.

My mom is sure they’re married. I ask her “Is it because they seem to hate each other?” She’s never said.

WHEN SCOTT RIPPED DOWN HER PALLET WOOD WALL!!!!!

I do nothing but yell at the TV during First Time Flippers. So much shitty guess work and horrible work to be sold to someone else!

I hate the people in Las Vegas show (Flipping Las Vegas.) That guy is a douchebarnacle to his wife.

Dumb tangent: This nurse who lives in my town was watching the show I’m pretty sure you’re talking about (Flip or Flop) and notice Tarq had a nodule on his throat. She wrote to the producers and asked him to be examined. He had thyroid cancer and had it treated. So every time it’s on, I look for the nodule to see if

As much as I love gray, we do seem to have reached a critical mass of the stuff, I guess.

The ethics are easy to explain: it’s public record. No consent is required. Now, if you want to discuss the morality of it, go nuts. But it is not unethical to use public records in reporting news.

Plug for the short story “Houston, We Have a Problem” in the wonderful James Tiptree, Jr. anthology Her Smoke Rose Up Forever.

Unless it’s Oprah. I’m told.
