What am I precisely?
Sort of. Not holding up any of my solutions doesn’t seem to mesh with wanting to save lives in the short term, but I appreciate honesty in the conversation.
So then why not work with us? Would you support the things I suggested, or would you not because you don’t want to move the conversation away from abolishing the 2nd?
Asked you first ;)
That...is not a reasonable position.
So what do you think of my proposals then?
I’m not psychic, but I’m still curious: what would that look like to you? What would that “something” be to satisfy you that we’re coming in good faith?
You must admit that law enforcement dropped the ball pretty severely in this case. This is being ignored in favor of a mass hate against the NRA, with no real purpose other than catharsis.
I wouldn’t say it’s pointless. Coming to a conversation with the belief that your opponents don’t care about dead kids is both horrible and hugely unproductive. It doesn’t convince anyone on the opposite side, it just makes your side more extreme. It kills compromise.
As a gun owner, I’m happy to discuss those ideas. I’d tolerate raising the age to purchase a semi-automatic weapon to 21. I’d support the implementation of gun violence restraining orders from family and school officials. I’m fine with bump stocks and 100 round magazines going away. We obviously need to revamp the…
I’m down for an age increase for semi-automatic weapon purchases, but do you think we might have time to address the horrifying failure of three separate levels of law enforcement to stop this kid?
History generally shows gun owners are WAAAAY more motivated to vote than gun-control supporters.
What’s a hardliner? What’s common sense? You’re using a lot of emotionally charged terms without a clear definition.
Mind expanding on that? What precisely is “bad faith”?
NRA might not officially represent all gun owners, but they do serve as a proxy for them. Demonizing gun owners and calling for a ban on semi-automatic weapons will probably net more opponents than calling for reasonable restrictions and regulations.
You guys think about white people a lot.
You sort of do. They can, you know, vote.
The degree of anger leveled at the NRA after the blatant failure of federal and local law enforcement to stop the shooting boggles my mind.
