I can empathize with what you’re feeling. I was a self-trained DM who had been in maybe two games of D&D before I ran it myself. Before I ran sessions for my friends I obsessed over the rules but never was able to retain all of it. And it turns out that worked fine for us and I never needed to get all that into the

Re: The Rope example; in the intro to the 5e rules book they mention that the rules are meant to facilitate fun. If they don’t do that then they’re supposed to be ignored. Run something that sounds fair in their place. What turns out to actually be fair requires some DM’ing experience, but you figure it out as you go.

Yep, the only criticism I hear about it is the NPC are all fairly boring. But to me, that is a good thing for a starter set. Interesting NPC often become a burden to run for a new DM and the game flows more naturally if you start with a generic template and let the DM and players craft a personality to an NPC

I would say the 5E Starter Set has one of the best examples of a sandbox campaign that I’ve ever seen. It’s a great starting point, especially at $20.

Yeah, it’s a bit of reading and absorbing. I was rusty myself when I picked it up to run for my son and his friends and cousins for his birthday.  It was still a fun time and they all want to play more.   Hoping as summer starts Scheduled will clear up and it will happen more

The starter set for 5th edition is actually really well done. It’s got a whole premade campaign and the rules are actually a complete(if bare bones) view of 5th edition.

(I’m getting some miles out of this one)

I only played 4 but it was great. Actually, I played the ancillary game but never finished. Also great. I play on explorer mode and just get really into the... exploring. The graphics are amazing and the locations are so well realized. I’ve been thinking about getting the collection, but my backlog is too severe...

Uncharted 2 is such a great ride. The whole thing is amazing. 4 is probably my favorite but 2 really got the series planted as a classic

i am still in the midst of a several month no-game boycott. i had been playing too much and i was not enjoying it. so i quit for a while. on top of that, after moving to our new house, we did not have internet for more than two weeks! it was great! my stress levels went way down and i read more books in those 2 weeks

Yeah, but you also made the same joke as David Letterman, so it’s kind of a wash?

Came to make the exact same fucking comment, which I guess adds weight to Conan’s reasoning.

Dane” Quayle? Is this a joke about him spelling potato with an e?

I wanna be humbled by Kate Hudson.

Easily the worst thing about the final season of GoT is how it has turned so many internet commenters into analysts for the Military Channel.

I thought it felt very rushed, but rewarding allies by turning them into nobility and granting them lands is royalty 101.

They could’ve at least had Peter Dinklage raise his voice a bit, since he was supposed to be talking to someone up on a wall. Then again, I’m not sure I want to hear his terrible accent amplified, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She had only two days until retirement.
