What Have You Finished This Week?

Oh my God, that sounds awful. I have to try this game.

What Have You Finished This Week?

I saw a lot of Steam friends buying Below this week, but I had completely forgotten it was by Capybara. It’s true that Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP was a bit too clever for its own good, but it was a pretty game with a lovely soundtrack so I expect that once I whittle down my backlog some more, I’ll give this

Five hours later, I see I posted this to the wrong article. Oh well. Over to WHYFTW.

Neat, I just realized that I posted both of my usual WAYPTW posts to the wrong article (the one about Gris). OK, so this weekend I will be trying to sleep adequately so that I can not screw up basic things. Sigh.

I saw Gris pop up on Steam and I’m intrigued, but I’ve got more than enough backlog as is, and I’m trying to work up my determination to resist the HUGE BARGAINS coming in the holiday sale any day now...

What Have You Finished This Week?

Y’know, I’m not sure I would push Little Nightmares as something you absolutely need to play if you have already gone through Limbo and INSIDE. The gameplay is mostly quite similar, except with maybe a bit more emphasis on stealth, and indeed there are a couple of stages that are almost identical to parts of those

This is my one big social media zone that I actually care about so I am more than happy to get a “late” notification, ha. I’ve played about half of these games and the others are either helpful reminders or interesting new tips...

Hmm, I got Blood of the Shogun as a free game on Twitch Prime, but haven’t had time to really try it out yet (although even the tutorial seemed hard). It was at the top of my Steam wishlist and then just fell into my lap with the Twitch Prime thing when that started over the summer, so I’m definitely interested in it.

Oof, I haven’t played Diablo III at all so I can’t really help you there, but I think they are pretty different in a lot of ways. Maybe someone else who has wandered this deep into the comments and has played both games can help...

Yeah, I actually have this on Steam and have played it a few times with my son. It was really fun, but we got hung up on the first boss. He’s a year older now and rather better at games, so it might be worth trying again. Thanks for the reminder!

Wow, Infamous! I liked that first game pretty well, for all its cheesiness— the part where you first start “hallucinating” was a really fun twist and got me into that game hardcore at the time. I have started the second one a few times but never really seem to get too far. (It’s been a while, but the issue for a long

Wow, awesome. I haven’t even played the first RDR yet, though I own it for PS3 (and now have a PS4 for eventual RDR2-ing), but this is a really fun example of emergent gameplay that is, for me, a major selling point for an open-world game— a genre that I struggle with, except for Fallout because well obviously. The

Yeah, my pleasure! Supergiant is always worth playing for the look, soundtracks (I cannot express strongly enough how much I love the music in their games), and tragic-but-with-a-wistful-smile tone of the stories, but Transistor really hits an amazing sweet spot with the gameplay that makes the whole experience even

Totally agreed on the satisfaction that came with the platinum trophy. In their own ways, the test rooms and the limiters that I had to fully explore to get those achievements each had their own lesson to teach about how to deal with different situations. The toughest, but most enlightening for me, was a group of

Ooh, Ping + Breach (if that is the stun effect you mean) sounds pretty good. Yeah, there was some way to use one of the functions as a passive so that you could use most other functions in real time while Turn was recharging, and I never really tried it but should. You’re absolutely right that when there are like 12

I will agree that managing one’s own anger at the other players’ incompetence is a major part of the Overcooked experience. My daughter scolded me for this when she saw me playing with my son (“It’s just a game, Dad!”) but of course she was yelling at him too, and vice versa, by the end of the second level they played

Ha, even the title takes a second to get to the point, I love it.
