Heh, yeah, I found that a while ago and cleared it out pretty quick. I was hoping it would be like their master camp or something, but it was really just one or two rooms.

Well, I got about 10-15 hours into it (I forget) a bit earlier this year and started getting hung up a lot on various boss fights in different corners of the map (one in the sewers, one in the Soul Sanctum, another one somewhere else, etc). Lovely game, but it turned out to be too frustrating for my tastes. I don’t

Ooh, thanks for the reminder about the Prime games. It’s true that the Twitch Prime phenomenon is currently just a way for me to collect more games that I don’t intend to play for the foreseeable future, but they are free (other than the existing Amazon Prime fee), so what the heck. Add Observer and Hue to the pile.

For sure. Anyway, I don’t care much about the main story on an emotional or narrative level (only slightly more than Fallout 4... sorry, I just can’t muster up much care about a baby who I have seen for about six seconds in the game). As you can see from my post, I have basically scheduled in a complete lap of the

Nice! I doubt I’ll ever finish Hollow Knight, but it’s been getting a lot of love here recently (must have been part of the Steam sale, ha) so it’s still on my radar. I’ll try again sometime when I feel like suffering a bit.

Congratulations! I haven’t got around to playing Shovel Knight yet, but from what I hear, finishing it off is quite an accomplishment.

Somewhat agreed. I feel like part of the issue might be that there were basically no emotional stakes to anything because it’s just a kid hanging out around the house and imagining stuff. Also, he is basically talking to himself and not to other people 90% of the time. So, there is no story and no relationships to

Wow, that was a completely unexpected comparison. I know virtually nothing about Far: Lone Sails, but I am pretty sure I haven’t heard it compared to those two games before!

I don’t remember any specific anecdotes from my time with the game, but yeah, those types of issues definitely sound familiar. Lots of grinding, for sure.

Exactly! Except I entered that area from the opposite end (just a sewer pipe opening into the river near the Citadel), so I came to Gallo’s place last, which I experienced as perfect staging/level design. My destination at that moment was Greyditch, so coming out at the Sewer Waystation was pretty convenient. Except

You guys are taking me back to the 1995 Jeunet masterpiece, Unincorporated Census Designated Place of Lost Children. Ah, memories.

I liked Sunless Sea quite a bit for a while there, but as with all rogue-(like-)likes, I got frustrated after a while with constantly dying. I did have a bad habit of sailing out just a bit too far at any given moment, which made me a bit too hungry for fuel and a bit too vulnerable to stumbling upon gigantic sea

I continue to pick new games up and put them down with callous disregard for my backlog (the Steam Sale sure as heck didn’t help). So my limited gaming time this week has been a bit all over the place. I’m enjoying Heat Signature quite a bit, as expected, and actually accumulating enough gear and/or skill to actually

What Have You Finished This Week?

OK, I just have to jump in here and observe that everyone in the freaking universe is now using the “much less” and “let alone” phrases wrong. Behold:

I liked Captain Spirit well enough, but it didn’t feel like much more than an interactive trailer. Which is OK, I am a big enough fan of Life Is Strange as just a comfy, weird, tear-jerking universe to hang out with that I was fine with that.

Nobody seems to have commented on the fact that Banner Saga 3 is coming out. I like the series quite a bit, but I had no idea it was set to come out this month (or any time soon), so this is a very pleasant surprise. I found the second game slightly better than the first (more exciting story, enjoyable and varied but

I completely understand. I had to bail on Hollow Knight for this reason and I wasn’t even all that far along, maybe halfway through or so.

Shoot, that reminds me that I never did finish War of the Chosen — in fact, I think I managed to beat the first assassin once, and that was as far as I got. Time to put that back on the list.

Oh yeah, I think I saw a trailer for that at some point and was slightly intrigued, but not enough to put it on my wishlist. I’ll take a second look, thanks. I love me some emotional video games.
