Love the preview concept. My only gripe with it is that it just so happens to exclude my most anticipated game (so far) of 2018 by two days, namely Into the Breach by Subset Games (the people who brought you FTL).

All right, duly noted. That makes me feel significantly better about going back in.

Nice, thanks, I’ll check that out!

I hear you, the problem is that I don’t think I did quite enough of the prep work you describe (though I certainly did some of it— maybe just missed a few key decisions), and so the question now is whether I have a good foundation to recover. Part of the issue is that a lot of the lower-level missions had started to

This was really my first time playing the game at all, so it’s possible that there was more than one mistake here— maybe I could have done more to strategically prepare for this scenario. I certainly did try to run away once I realized what was happening, but by then everyone was already Stressed (and one guy had

Doesn’t that mean that the original Escape Goat is still out there waiting for you? Or did they just start with 2 because indie craziness?

Just learned that Screaming Females are playing here in April, but for some reason it hadn’t occurred to me that they were probably touring in support of a new album. Definitely have to get out to the show if possible— I don’t get out much and my wife isn’t so into this hard rock these days (even though she’s the one

Thanks for the thoughts on Superhot. It’s on my wishlist (which is really more of a “remember this looked kind of interesting” list, with like 50 games on it), and it looked like an intriguing combination of Mirror’s Edge and Hotline Miami. Sounds like still worth picking up on sale.

Interesting, I’ll take that under consideration, heh. By the way, as far as funny and/or just classic “South Park” moments, a little tiny one that really stuck out for me (for whatever reason) is where some random guy gets sniped for asking too many questions about the “new Taco Bell”, and as his wife crouches next to

Slowing down on “Backlog Quest”— my ridiculously busy work schedule continues (even with the kids out of town with grandparents for the week off of school). I am going to have to switch to some shorter games soon in order to catch up. In the meantime...

Oh yeah, I definitely can’t get enough of that guy’s voice. They also put just a touch of a super-short delay on it in some of the longer speeches, so he sounds like he’s speaking from beyond the grave or inside your diseased mind or whatever. Very nice sound design overall.

Awesome, that would be great!

Hah, “environmental narratives” is definitely better, thanks. I knew someone had to eventually come up with an improvement on “walking simulator” but it was the best term I had for what is actually a fairly coherent genre.

Well, I’m a bit sick so I missed my chance to post early and now I don’t have the energy, so I’ll keep it short this time...

Haha, yeah I saw that, maybe I’ll check it out. I was already resisting the urge to buy another game on sale (I am supposed to be laser-focused on my backlog, dammit!), but Tesla vs. Lovecraft does sound like some crazy fun.

Thanks for the thoughts on Stick of Truth and Dungeon of the Endless — I have tried both for a few hours in the past, and I’m intrigued enough to try more (even despite and/or because of your concerns with Endless). I have to say that I am a bit more drawn to Darkest Dungeon when it comes to picking a roguelike, if

Hey, if you’ve just played Edith Finch recently, you should come over to the Gameological discussion group on Steam and talk with us about it (it’s our current Revue Club game). Also, kudos on showing it to family members— I am in the middle of it now (my second time with the game) and just like last time, I am

As for what I’m playing THIS weekend (and the rest of the week)... well, I really should get back to Hollow Knight. I do want to finish it (at least to check the box for my “Backlog Quest”), and it’s a lovely game in many ways, but... I don’t know if I can handle getting my ass kicked over and over again in such a

What Have You Finished This Week?

Obligatory Game Revue Club post (which I originally posted in the Celeste review, yay):
