Oh ye gods yes. Casting (for a live-action one, anyway) is crucial though.

I think I remember an interview with Banks where he said that was basically how he wrote it.
I sort of agree with her insofar as there aren’t that many vinyl pressing plants (though I do believe new ones are planned / opening soon, if Jack White is to be believed) so all these variants create huge delays in production of the records of the less well-known artists— especially because (I’m assuming here, but it…
Nearly anything speculative by China Mieville, but in terms of ‘filmability’, The City & The City is probably the easiest.
Player of Games (and subsequently anything in the Culture universe) for darn sure, but also Banks’ other sci-fi stuff too— there wasn’t much non-Culture but there is Against A Dark Background and The Algebraist, both of which are great. The former is probably more ‘filmable’, since it’s essentially a heist story…
The trailer for the Coens’ A Serious Man hits all those notes, and is a goddamn masterpiece. (The whole movie’s great too of course.)
A Declare movie would be great, and I think relatively easy to adapt, at least into something like a 6- or 8-episode series. (Especially in his books around that time— from say, Last Call to Declare— there’s a lot going on all the place, plot-wise)
Which is a shame, because it’s a great book.
I’d just been thinking a week or two ago that I needed to rewatch Blood Simple, as it’s been at least a couple of years, but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. I’m going to make it tonight’s itinerary.
Yeah, but Swayze could sell “pain don’t hurt”. Gyllenhaal, maybe not so much.
They’re all so bad, the people and place names both. It’s weirdly impressive.
I legit laughed at loud at multiple kills throughout that scene.
Alps was not a travelogue, and Dogtooth wasn’t about veterinary dentistry.
I think this season is actually eligible for the next Emmys, so there’s still hope!
It’s six weeks later, yes, but I only just finished watching the season tonight (last two episodes) and the finale just minutes ago. And, yes, I’ll gladly cop to crying my eyes out at the final minute or so before the credits rolled.
The music choices for this season have been spot on +.
It’s also (Danish’s actions) why the phrase “too smart for their own good” exists.
I watched it a while ago— early January or something. It is indeed wretched, horrid, and a mess, also too long (I can make the obvious joke/comment that if you restored all the dumb slo-mo to regular speed you’d save 20 minutes, but I... just did), stupid, empty, and pointless. It’s fucking terrible. I still sort of wa…
Didn’t Twitter do this too? As in, even just scrolling past a video clip counted as a view.
