A few things that occurred to me as I read the review:

So low it’s on the ground, really.

You beautiful monster

I was at my parents’ place tonight, and watched some of this with the sound off, and that made me realize just how boring and interminable the pre-nomination-reading banter really is.

I know this wasn’t the point of the article, but this:

Your mention of Castor reminded me how much I hated all the names in this movie, of the people and the places.

The Coens did a director’s cut of Blood Simple that I think was a minute shorter than the original version, and I believe the actual changes were barely noticeable. It was almost like a parody of the idea of a director’s cut.

I think he has all of two lines after that intro scene.

This is another one of those “profit was high but not high enough” bullshit scenarios, right?

“No, really, we mean it!”

I’m going to ignore the large majority of your question (mainly because I have no idea what the answer is, I’m not a comics person either) and focus on the most important part:

Would I watch a remake of The Parent Trap with Jeff Bridges and Gary Oldman as the twins? Well, yeah, obviously.

Kind of like the beginning of Three Days Of The Condor, where Robert Redford survives the operation that killed all of his office-mates because he was out getting sandwiches for everyone.

Damn, that’s good. I was thinking Rob Zombie but maybe they could play brothers or cousins or something.

Dear god was that amazing.

How revolutionary, and how hard NBC tried to fuck with it in search of ratings. We’re lucky we got what we did out of the show (in terms of number of episodes), but what we did get was, by and large, amazing, particularly the early years.

He’s on Conan O’Brien’s podcast this week, and definitely sounds like he’s making fun of himself, in a pretty self-aware way.

I haven’t read the book (or, to be honest, finished watching the show— 2 episodes left on the DVR) but I’d been assuming that since it was an adaptation of a novel, and it was covering the whole novel (which is also an assumption, I guess), it was probably only a one-season thing anyway. That said, the cast is great,
