It’s surprising a) how good it is, and b) how little it seems to be talked about.
If I remember correctly, the second season was going to cover five years or ten years or something, with each episode taking a year (or some long-ish time period apart). No idea if that’s still the plan, or if would even work alongside season 1 (which I haven’t actually seen, other than the first two episodes that ABC…
Who knows what I thought about it, if anything, at the time, but right now in 2023 I’d probably much rather have a Lilith spinoff (revival? whatever) than a Frasier one.
It probably wasn’t her first prominent role, but the first thing I saw Amy Seimetz in was Upstream Color, with and directed by Shane Carruth, who turned out to be a psycho (in general but also I believe in direct relation to her). So she’s been dealing with this brand of bullshit for a long time, unfortunately.
He was on Moonbase 8 briefly a couple of years ago, so he has at least a little bit of acting experience. SNL’s a different beast, of course.
Yep. Home of the worst goddamned bloody Mary in the city.
The season premier I would certainly skip, if only for that reason. But there were some good moments from the rest of the season, if I remember correctly. (I haven’t rewatched it yet.)
Exactly. No Manuel, no bueno.
DVDs are cheap(ish) on Amazon, or at least they were last... summer, I think it was? when I realized I didn’t have the last season.
I’m pretty sure it is the music rights, yeah. Though at least the first couple of seasons of Homicide are— or were— available on DVD, but they may be out of print by now. I actually don’t know how many seasons were released in the first place. (And whether that, if later seasons weren’t released, was because of…
I watched WarGames (made in 1983) recently, for the first time (or if not, then the first time in like 25 years) and had to pause it or a few minutes to laugh at Matthew Broderick using not 5.25" floppies, but the earlier, gigantic 8" ones.
Maurice LaMarche, Billy West, and Tresse MacNeille (and Seth MacFarlane, despite how a lot of people feel about his shows) would like a word. Among many others, surely, but those are first four I thought of.
I’m guessing the interview kind of trailed off after that last response from Jackson...
If you were a watcher of Fringe, you’ll remember how they often seemed to drive from Boston to New York City in a lean and zippy 45 minutes sometimes.
It (and he) is great. I feel like not enough people know about that show, even though it has a similar pedigree (and look, and cast, and style) to Bob’s Burgers.
The smartest and easiest thing he could do after retiring is take his bajillions of dollars, buy an island somewhere, and disappear there for a good long while.
Yeah but reviews are part of how people find out about the existence of some shows in the first place.
Huh. News to me. I guess he could’ve gone by Michael K. Douglas, if they weren’t contemporaries, but also he just looks like a “Michael Keaton” too much.
The song as a whole might be the best 10+-minute-long rock song of all time.
