Ok, so it was more like a kick in the dick than it was a slap in the face.

Just feels like they are timing a new Playstation with every new God of War game.
Man, I have a few games on the PS5 (like 5?) but honestly feel like there’s been so little I care about on it. I feel like at this rate I’m going to end up owning fewer PS5 games than Wii U games. I think it’s the first console I might regret buying. I hope KH4 at least comes out on it.
“1. A story guy, not a data guy. A story guy doesn’t care what’s true or accurate, he just loves a good story.”
Yes, there is never bird shit under ledges on cliffs is there?
It is insane to me that this is a controversial take.
I mean the UI and features are what really sell the box for me. quick resume is so much better than the weird ps5 cards and the xbox UI is pretty much exactly want I want customizationwise for a UI (folders in the xbox menu so I can access everything exactly how I like it.)
That’s a good point. While exclusives are certainly effective at user acquisition, they don’t necessarily increase retention. If you’re only interested in specific exclusives and would otherwise prefer to play everything else on a different platform, those exclusives aren’t going to get you to switch ecosystems. I…
I am a big xbox fan, i like their hardware, I like their games, and I like their cloud streaming (at least in my neck of the woods the latency is less than 50 ms which is good enough for most games I enjoy) and honestly I want as many people to be able tonenjoy it as possible so if microsoft decides tonkick exclusives…
Truly insane takes. I can’t believe some of the commentary here, proclaiming that this is an exit from the console market. It’s so, so dumb.
“Don’t worry Xbox superfans, you’ll have more black and green plastic boxes to buy in the future”
I mean, anyone who assumed that Microsoft would be getting out of the console race over this sort of rumor is either naive or so entrenched in the Xbox ecosystem that they can’t fathom a world where gamers have the choice to play whatever games they want on whichever console they want to buy.
If the rumors of…
simultaneous launches are not always better. they are frequently beneficial, but like most things, there are always exceptions. paid off in spades for Baldur’s gate 3 to not launch on all platforms simultaneously.
Your mistake is in thinking Quick Resume et al as ‘system sellers’. They’re probably not.
I’d be surprised too, though it would be a pleasant surprise. Simultaneous launches are better for consumers and better for the success of each game on each platform (see Helldivers 2 outperforming every other Sony PC port despite belonging to a much smaller IP). If you want to maximize revenue and consumer happiness,…
That, to me, is the platonic ideal of how this kind of thing should work. Like, I have an Apple TV for streaming because I like it and the fact that it’s part of the Apple ecosystem is nice. I know lots of people like Roku or Chromecast because of their various features and advantages.
Now, I don’t want to make sweeping generalizations but allow me a minute to make sweeping generalizations.
Only an absolute fucking idiot read “ Some MS games going multiplatform” and thought “THEY’RE GONNA STOP MAKING CONSOLES”
Someone might prefer Xbox-specific features like Quick Resume, the controller, free cloud saves, Play Anywhere, Smart Delivery, the UI, etc. MS also allows dev/pubs to sell keys outside of XBL/MS Store and you can pretty easily earn gift cards via MS Rewards, resulting in cheaper games.
Seems like a win-win for consumers. MS continues making Xboxes for those that prefer it while its first-party games become more accessible to a broader audience.
The reason you don't notice the difference in a game like Spiderman is most likely due to its excellent use of motion blur. Done correctly it can make 30fps feel perfectly smooth and pleasant. Done badly or not implemented at all and 30fps looks awful
