Looks like Chthulu and Cobra Commander made a baby who hit the gym.

(AV Club + io9)/2

They gave a C+ to Infinity War.

Yet Eternals proves, maybe once and for all, that who’s behind the camera of these quality-controlled blockbusters may not matter so much.

Given how the “MCU is formulaic” talking point always rang kinda false to me, and how heavily the review leans on and labours it without actually expounding on it (besides the observation that this action movie has action scenes), I’m inclined to take this one with a heaping bowl of salt until I’ve seen the film for

He’s so good in this it made it hard to take his detective in The Talented Mr Ripley seriously [I kept waiting for him to tell Matt Damon he’d “seen his type before: flashy, making the scene, flaunting convention”].

Are you sayin’ . . . you wanna piece’a me!?!?!

I couldn’t suspend my disbelief that Charlize Theron would be jealous of Stewart’s beauty.  Or anyone else’s beauty.

Frank Costanza is the perfect embodiment of that idea. He just continually gets louder and more aggressive and it's perfectly executed

One of Seinfeld’s great strengths was the fanatical commitment to absurd characters by its guest and recurring actors. Even when the characters had texture, they never flinched from pushing the performance to its limit.

She was pretty good in that Totino’s Pizza Roll film.

Had to go to the theater where I was b*tched out by mask police [...]. Wound up with[...] a cold for my troubles.

Matthew Perry was great in everything he was a part of, whether it was in Aaron Sorkin’s nth masturbatory correct opinions showcase with Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, an especially duplicitous attorney on The Good Wife/Fight, a struggling widower on Goon, or as Oscar in the not horribly inspired remake of The Odd

I enjoyed what there was of it, but I’m still marveling at the fact that the marketing campaign managed to conceal that this is less than half of the story. We'll see if we ever get the rest of the film.

You make it sound like Cougar Town is coming out next week. It was on for six seasons.

Sure, but if you’re going to make something that’s nothing like the books, why make an adaption at all? I mean, I would understand if this were a big popular franchise, but Foundation...isn’t that. The name doesn’t carry weight except among fans of old school hard scifi, and those people aren’t going to be impressed

Also:

this just felt like a classy TV pilot. hate to say it, plus a bit boring. plus why was there no humour in a 2hr+ film?

in response to being told that your argument was flawed you suddenly lost the ability to type coherent English? and all you did is repeat your claim and thats not a defense of it. OK so “TRADITION!” can you expand on why “TRADITION!”? I bet you cant and will turn to insults but no one will take that bet XD
