the variety article mentioned that there aren’t many mcu movies with that strong of a hold, most of the recent ones have dropped like 70% in the 2nd weekend.  The two they mentioned that had a smaller drop were Black Panther (45%) and (surprisingly) the original Thor (47%). 

eh, i think S2 of Yellowjackets stands up pretty well against Twin Peaks S2

like the guy, but find it amusing that he sounds like that teen kid on the simpsons whose voice hasn’t finished changing

sure maybe AI isn’t that great but i’m guessing whatever sitcom scripts it churns out can’t be that much worse than some of the human-written scripts that end up being made into episodes. So i guess if this strike goes on for awhile we’ll get to see for ourselves

i wonder how much these cancellations are being influenced by the writer’s strike. seems like it would be a lot easier to pull the plug if you know the next season would be substantially delayed anyhow, but of course cancellations happen all the time in any case.

maybe. i’m not convinced Gunn has a great handle on how to handle characters who aren’t firmly in the lovable oddball camp.  he tends to make the more square-jawed alpha male types doofuses so i wonder how he handles Superman, Green Lantern, and the like. But i’m definitely on board with giving him a shot

imo best mcu movie since endgame (unless you count no way home, which is fair). been awhile since i left theaters feeling satisfied after seeing a marvel movie. sad to think this was it for gunn and marvel as they really worked well together. probably not a popular opinion but i think gunn does better when constrained…

tbf the MA one (if its the one i’m thinking of) involved postpartum depression and as such was considered more newsworthy than just another white male doing a gun massacre

in any given year the nominees are pretty random, i wouldn’t look for much in the way of logical reasoning to explain why Tribe not nominated yet. all just part of the rock & roll hall of fame desperately trying to remain relevant in the 21st century

well this isn’t good for anybody.  hope this gets resolved quickly in the writer’s favor but we’ll see.  guess we should be prepared for lots more reality shows in the meantime

My parents were big fans so the Gord’s Gold cassette tape was being played all the time in the car when i was growing up. Lotta good tunes that have stood the test of time as well.

I liked it until the escape from Jabba got too slapsticky. Then i liked it again until the ewoks took down the imperials. then i liked the ending.
