I have thought about this sketch at least once a month, on average, for the last 35 years.

In other news, Frank Sinatra was a fucking dick.

Even the invite list was pretty uninspiring when compared to the most recent Olympic team. That said, a lot of those dudes are shelved this summer (Paul George, Durant, Klay, Oladipo).

Team USA’s big mistake was letting Magic Johnson pitch each player on joining the team.

I hear Enes Kanter is a free agent

I love her expression: “Can you believe this shit?”

IMO in situations like this, there should be penalties on the ref. If one fighter is getting badly beaten, it’s the ref’s responsibility to stop the fight. if the ref doesn’t want to do that, then they shouldn’t be allowed to ref again, and should have their paycheck yanked for the fight.

But haven’t humans enjoyed this shit since the dawn of civilization, basically? And if there’s money to be made, it’s going to be hard to pull people away from it.

I’ve noted something similar. I suspect that because football has so much more mainstream popularity, the writers see it as more worthy of attention with regard to CTE, and that’s totally fair. But I am somewhat surprised that I’ve never seen a full-on “Boxing is barbaric and unnecessary” take on this website.

i’d like to think i’d handle my success more gracefully than this were i to go play basketball for the local middle school.

I appreciate deadspins coverage of nfl cte issues, but it seems that the same considerations and criticism for management are never made in articles about mma or boxing.

At what point is enough enough? I used to be a huge fight fan, and I used to participate in Army Combatives. I once got ktfo and it was the one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced. Waking up and not knowing where I was or what had happened. It totally changed my mind about the sport of fighting, and I haven’t

I absolutely love Le Batard, because he gets it. His show with Stugotz is stupid, irreverant, and not at all serious. Just like Sports. They understand that none of this stuff actually matters, and they give sports news all of the respect that it has earned, which is to say none at all. Instead they have fun, because

I’m feeling admiration for a sports talk host? What the shit is going on??

Pitaro was hoisted by his own Le Batard.

I'm going to have so many "Oh shit! I forgot he plays for them now" moments during the regular season.

never buy a jersey period

You’re probably overestimating my intelligence on a slew of other topics as well.

Stephen Curry, the longest-serving single-team player in the league even as we speak

How did you ever decide what car to buy? ;)
