Tony Bennett handled losing to a 16-seed by listening to every question reporters threw at him, giving thoughtful, reasonable answers, crediting UMBC, crediting his own team’s excellent season and conference tournament, and never disrespecting any reporter like Hamilton did there, especially given that the question

There’s a great irony that the people who usually unhesitatingly believe in every conspiracy theory all think Trump/Russia isn’t real.

Never underestimate white peoples ability to be scared by everything.

Forget just sports fans! As for a large population of white males in this country (like these bloggers), there are very few conspiracies they won’t gravitate towards when something doesn’t go their way.

As someone whose job it is to actually indict for felonies, you are 100% correct. An amazing number of cases pass through grand juries where there is *technically* probable cause for an indictment, but the conduct doesn’t rise to the level of what we believe should constitute felonious conduct- for example most crimes

Unfortunately we live in a world where too many people still think this is real...

Felony? How about making Olympic fencer Daryl Homer rank shit for 36 straight days! THAT’S a felony.

Burner, please
We’re going off what we have. It’s the internet - comments and takes don’t wait til after closing arguments.
What we have is some very weak sauce - a fucking felony for pushing past someone - against a high profile, outspoken black athlete.
This is what it looks like right now.

Upon further review, if we

Now they want to gerrymander the time zones? Fucking GOP.

Only a tiny, tiny, tiny portion of Maine is closer to the 60th meridian than the 75th. So it doesn’t even make sense for New England to do this.

Plus being on “Mountain Time” just sounds good.

Idk, maybe just pick a lane and stay in it. I’m not sure any of these sentiments are worthy of a post, let alone two.

The earliest you see her shoes in the above video is 5 seconds, she hits the car at 6. We need to compare this to what would happen with a human driver, and by the criteria, I have to say this was unavoidable.

Yeah, everything I’ve read about the sensors on these cars has (had) me believe that they are completely capable of not only seeing what we cannot, but semi-predicting based on trajectories if a tracked object (human with a bike) is going to be in the pathway. I know the safety driver should have been paying attention

I would think that, given their history of sketchy business practices, Uber probably skimped out on some tech that would have avoided this.

Bear in mind that LIDAR has its limitations too, it’s not psychic by any stretch of the imagination. I would still say the system likely didn’t have many options even if it did notice a pedestrian off to the left while it was driving down the highway.

Agreed. What the hell. This was not a situation of someone darting out behind an obstructed view. If it was day time, any semi-competent driver will see the pedestrian. It shouldn’t matter what time of day it is for an sensor-laden autonomous vehicle, and should have spotted the pedestrian the moment she was in the

It’s supposed to have LIDAR or similar sensors which detect obstacles in front of it - whether or not they’re illuminated. Part of the point of these autonomous vehicles is that they’re supposed to have better ways to detect potential problems than a human driver, and this shows that wasn’t the case.

So you have to wonder: What does Trump have over them? Why are they willing to go along with this? What would need to happen in order for them to take action?

:-)
