Better late than never, I guess, but I think that Superstore would have been exactly the sort of sitcom that would have warranted episodic AVC coverage.

I thought this episode was a good example of SNL managing to use a host while not leaning too much into them. They tended to work around him as much as they could (and the parts he had the biggest roles in were hard to tank [like the date sketch at the end] or weren’t really going to work anyway [like the Cinderlla…

Sadly, history does not record his feelings regarding plans coming together.

Rigg was a bit surprised to be tapped as a Bond Girl, given that by 1969 there was a certain ‘image’ to Bond Girls that she felt she didn’t fit: ‘At the end of all that pulchritude, there’s me, and I’m not exactly all tits and teeth.’

now that sounds like a good book. not that i had any illusions that the music industry was anything more than various overlapping business scams with aggressive marketing but these people are like the renaissance masters of exploitation.  

Indeed, an excellent book. I love how he’s always trying to steal the clothes on the video shoots lol. So glad they are back together. Great Divide is one of my all time favorite albums.

I wish I could give you more stars. I worked for a major label during the era he writes about and it’s painfully spot-on and really well-written to boot (Slichter’s the Harvard-educated son of a physicist and it shows in his writing).

Everyone should read this book.
