I’m surprised you didn’t like the cartoon when it lifted so many of its stories directly from Claremont’s run. What didn’t you like about it?

I thought 2020's The New Mutants was the last X-Men franchise film.

Bc it’s going to be the grand reboot of the entire MCU after the “Multiverse Saga” fizzles out, yes, I said fizzle. After how they introduced the big bad of this saga I have no hope they’ll conclude with the same gusto as Infinity War and Endgame.

Different groups of people have such wildly different takes on what makes a good X-Men story, and consequently significant chunks of the audience will be disappointed no matter what they do.

Probably because the last few X-Men movies have been terrible and they wanted to rest the brand for a while to build anticipation. That’s smart, especially because the X-Men are the last big Marvel franchise left that hasn’t had an MCU movie announced. After that, there’s only b-listers left. But the X-Men have SO

The metaphors are a little too obvious. And they’re deployed too bluntly.

enjoying this series so far, as it seems to have more sympathetic characters (especially compared to the first season of the Boys). I mean the original has Hughie and Starlight but Hughie is more often than not used as the butt of jokes.

Ironic that the site infamous for posting spoilers in the title of articles is complaining about a trailer that doesn’t post spoilers.

I’ll give them this: It looks like they’re making the exact movie they want to make, style and all.

I’m liking it, I think Marie’s story has some nuance with her being very self-aware about the dynamics unfolding, but also making choices that surprise you. Black women are allowed to be messy too.

I feel like they really missed out on a great opportunity and should have had Marisa Tomei in this “re-make/re-launch/re-whateverthefuck” because she was an uncredited “health club girl” in the original. Or maybe, just maybe, the real joke is that she will once again be an uncredited “health club girl” in this one.

Ha!  Despite your best efforts to hide it, I figured out what streaming platform this show is on.

Its a given that almost EVERY culture would have some sort of Intelligence Services/Agency to monitor threats (internal and external) to its defenses.. they don’t need to be militaristic for that to happen.

Peace doesn’t mean the absence of a military, it just means its the last tool to be used, not the first.

And lets

Who burned down the security cameras around campus?”. That was clearly Golden Boy, right? To hide from the cameras while he was melting the statue and placing the phone inside?

Welcome to AV Club!

Maybe I’m not the biggest Wickhead (I might be a little bit: I know the very real and very common term “Wickhead!”), I’ve only seen the movies a couple times, but most of those “five-levels-of-offensive” easter eggs would fly over my head.

It’s like the ridiculous “new lady Ghostbusters ruined my childhood” takes. The original was made in a vacuum and is its own thing. Some other people making something somewhere doesn’t have any effect on the original.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, as if the suspension-of-disbelief shattering injuries Wick suffered at the end of the third flick where he’s shot and falls off that roof and whams various obstructions during his plummet wasn’t enough cheapening of the franchise. That was such an eyeball-roller--no human could survive

I”ll never understand takes like this. I think the Continental is a perfectly OK TV show, but there’s nothing that they can do that would diminish my appreciation for any of the Wick movies. It cannot cheapen them in any way.
