I enjoyed Gladiator but to me it's a few really great set pieces served with a pretty meh script. I love Almost Famous, it was the first thing I rewatched after PSH's passing. Traffic should have won BP though.

Yeah, and it seems to have encouraged Tom Hooper's closeup fetish so much that he took it to the extreme for Les Miserables.

I would have been out after the first one…

Pulp Fiction was never going to win at that point in time for the Academy though. I'd say it's more realistic to be pissed that it beat out Shawshank.

Schmaltz, Schmaltz, Schmaltz, Schmaltz, Schmaltz, Nazis

I normally disagree with PDN on everything but I hate sound of music with a passion. Julie Andrews is pretty fantastic though, just not in that turd.

It's a terrible overblown pile of crap and I cringe every time I hear the first note of that goddamned song.

I remember going to the theatres and one of the girls in our group of friends wanting to see it. Boy am I glad we shot her down. I stopped about a third of the way through the dvd later on and still have never seen the whole thing.

ILD and The World's End by far… criminally underrecognized.

You mean you don't like the way EVERYONE talks about Family Matters fans.

This seemed totally off to me. I've always found that storyline a bit eye-rolling but Lily being instantly over it doesn't compute at all to me.

I think CBC and BBC both tend to do far better ceremony coverage, often falling silent for long stretches (though both also offer better coverage across the board so it's hardly surprising.) I'm just glad we finally live in the future and no one has to put up with NBC with a bit of effort.

To hell with this black black earth that Ramis and Hoffman are gone but we're still subjected to Shia Lebeouf

Sure glad 18,784 other people haven't mentioned that already.

I'm afraid if you cut Cougar Town reviews I might get a bit snippy.

Agreed, Quick stood on his head.

Meh, doesn't matter if it should have been called or not… my point is that if you're smart you play to what the ref is calling, if she's warned you repeatedly on something you'd be smart not to push her, especially at a time when it matters most.

Well I have very little sympathy on the slashing call. She'd apparently warned the player AND the bench already that swipes after the puck was frozen weren't going to be tolerated. Why was she testing the ref's patience? I don't think it should have been called but come on, you know the reffing for these games tends

Yeah, pretty glad that puck didn't go in. Winning because the shitty ref threw a body check on a Canadian player would have been the entire story instead of a discussion of what was a fantastic game.

There wasn't a shootout, not sure WTF Sonia is talking about there.
