I don’t quite understand the appeal of “high-level play” either! For high-level play, the Civ series has often been kind of broken.

I’m just going to state how very annoying the whole thing is where they had us opt-in for the beta like a month ago, but then this week, you also had to see the notification in time that beta access required watching four hours of one of the officially selected Overwatch 2 Beta streamers on twitch.

Every time a new WOW expansion comes out I take a look at the new locales featured, and every time I find myself going “thats it?”

Uhhh... the fact that BotW IS NOT on the “almost game of the decade” list is kind of a good thing. Cuz it is game of the decade.

Normally absolutely love your takes and input, but the reference to ww2 seems more nerdily specific than anything - she could have just said “joining the armed forces and signing up to put your life on the line.” I’m not sure you’ve even understood the analogy she was making - she’s not saying a candidacy and

I can get a little emotional about comparisons to soldiers, and that emotional response can cause me to be less thoughtful about things than I should be.

It’s one of the reasons I generally try to avoid conversations of this type; I didn’t avoid this one, obviously, and the end result was a rant that, ultimately,

I hadn’t thought of it that way--but that is, as you say, an unfortunately relevant thought.
