I went a little cynical into watching the trailer and god damn did I still get a little teary eyed. Sometimes nostalgia is just nice.

Nothing says “This Is America” like a lawsuit.

That final scene was staggeringly awful though. Like a parody of an academy award moment from the 90's.

It’s the kind of movie that really does scream “academy award contender”. A court room drama. Period setting. An all-star cast. A comedian playing against type for a drama. A setting far enough back that we can feel safe. A big name actor chewing the scenery (I did really enjoy Frank Langella though). Lots of soaring

Thank you so much for this. This essay is beautifully written and perfectly captures how I have been feeling. I cried reading it. The final paragraph of the essay really resonated (“It was a largely preventable horror that altered the fabric of reality and there are people responsible…).

I think RuPaul is ecstatic that Gottmik is a trans contestant who is capable of winning and, therefore, someone she can use to rehabilitate her public image after the repeated, inexplicable, and disheartening transphobic comments she’s made over the past few years. She probably likes Gottmik too, though.

I’m not saying that no matter how great Drake might be, Canadian Great is maybe four/fif’s as great as American Great...
