I lived in Montreal for six years and just recently made the unfortunate (and all too common) jump to Toronto instead. The city's a weird catch 22 in that way. Its an amazing, beautiful, affordable, culturally vibrant city that's still unfortunately trenched in a well of political and cultural quagmire. Yet it's

Sampling isn't only about the melody or the beat. Its often about capturing the actual sound of a recording. Its impossible to recreate a specific snare or kick sound that was recorded 40 years ago.

I think what gets people so hung up is that they judge the two processes under the same umbrella, since they both have the same end result, but they're not the same thing at all. Learning how to play an instrument and learning how to listen for/chop/manipulate samples are two completely different skill sets and

For me personally its about keeping your ears open to literally anything. So yes, if someone suggested something I'd take a listen and see if it worked for me. I've sampled terrible muzak songs I've heard in the grocery store and Shazam'd. Lots of soundtracks to movies I've just watched. My one rule is to always cross

I don't know what the hell everyone's going on about, because that's my favourite line in the episode. I never picked up any real subtext; the character (who to be fair I know nothing about in real life) is aloof and sarcastic and it catches you off guard. I always laugh.

What a fresh new comedy routine!

Kaitlin Olson talked about recording her part for it on her Speakeasy interview 2 years ago.

I refuse to watch GoT out of cynical elitist spite, and I tried to watch The Wire but couldn't get into it…so I'm basically satan compared to you.

I saw Dave a couple years ago and he did a sort of off the cuff Q&A at the end. The first thing yelled out was 'Tyrone Biggums!' followed by 'how much weed do you smoke?' and then a couple Rick James'. I don't blame him for being so hesitant to come back into the limelight if he's still getting that bullshit over 10

"The leanest burger in the world…could be the meeanest burger in the world. If you…cook it that way!"

The Hunt with Mads Mikkelsen. The whole movie is a frustrating to watch, but once the dog gets involved, it really goes to a whole other emotional plane.

I was gonna call you a racist for confusing them, but I figured a brain fart made more sense. You win this round.

I'm gonna be this guy cause I'm early enough and I can:
"Bassem Youssef (subject of Stewart’s directorial debut Rosewater)"
Might wanna double check that one.

Just the idea that women have any significant advantages over men in comedy is extremely ludicrous.

Made the grave mistake of reading the reddit comments on this story. Here's a choice cut:

I don't know if they just didn't have the budget to get a decent writing staff or what, but all of the jokes are pretty abysmal. Larry flubs and mumbles a lot, and most of the punchlines are followed by an awkward silence and then him mugging at the camera for a pity laugh. He is good at asking insightful questions

I've watched Llewyn Davis like, once a month since it came out. Its probably lingered with me more than any other movie I've seen in the last 5 years. Top tier Coen's for sure. And Green Green Rocky Road (the one he plays in the car) is one of my go to guitar jams now.

The last two episodes had the African Colonialists and old guys at the bar sketches, which both masterfully relied on vocal mannerisms and facial expressions to create the comedy (they were saying real words, but I honestly couldn't understand them, and was cracking up anyway)…the severed head one seemed like an

I think its one of the movies that you had to have seen when it came out and have some nostalgia for…because I've tried watching it twice in the last couple years (I'm a fan of Role Models and They Came Together), and it felt really dated and pretty much all of the jokes were duds and I couldn't finish it. It was like

Just discovered Taylor McFerrin's Early Riser and good god is it fantastic.
