Just because you don’t hear of it doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Canadian here. They redesigned our health cards a few years back to add our pictures to them. Why? People coming up from the US, ‘borrowing’ a friend’s card, and going to see a doctor.

Waiting to hear that we transgender people should be more tolerant and understanding of ‘opposing views’ and how if we’d just be nicer and more polite to ignorant, hate-filled fuckwads, we’d stand a better chance of changing their minds so they wouldn’t, you know, beat and/or murder us.

Less than a month until the 2-year anniversary of my finally figuring out I’m trans, and beginning to transition. Can vouch for ‘nightmare come true’. My timing is AWESOME.

He comes across really nicely, seems very open and approachable. Charismatic as hell. I voted for him, I freely admit that. As to how I feel about him now, I’m waiting to see if he can get the Trans rights bill passed (C-16), and hoping like hell he doesn’t @#$% up legalizing weed.

Around here, at some of the newer intersections, the ‘push to cross’ buttons also have a rumble/vibrate feature so that if you’re touching the button it’ll let you know when it’s safe to start crossing.

Oh come now, nobody has to steal a patent these days. It’ll turn out that some shelf company has a patent that’s never been used, which if you squint at it just right looks similar enough to your nailed sticks for a lawsuit. Call me a pessimist if you must, but based on the amount of hate out there these days, the number of ‘bathroom bills’, ‘religious freedom laws’ and general street-level harassment that’s going on.. it’s going to get a lot harder worldwide for LBGT individuals, before it gets better.

I am absolutely amazed that there was enough backlash from this for them to actually cancel airing the episode. I am also depressed that most of the people expressing outrage at this casting see absolutely no problem with casting cis men to play trans women.
