I will add that many newer cars with electronically controlled throttle bodies will throw a check engine light and possibly go into limp mode after cleaning the carbon out even with the battery disconnected. Especially if a there was quite a bit of buildup. Usually this can be remedied by removing both battery cables

I’m curious if these things would interfere with the operation of the seat belt buckle pre-tensioners in an accident. I still dig the concept though. I hate all the crap that falls in my seat rails.

Yea it definitely looks like the fuel tank from an equinox with fuel and evap lines still attached. It was more like a case of not my job vs. not my job. I’m sure the Chevy FLT on a warranty fuel pump is something stupid like .3. That results in minimal effort to do said job.

This is the same way the in-bed “speakers” work on the new Honda Ridgeline. These exciters are mounted behind the bed panels. I was actually impressed with the sound quality. Great for tailgating but of course they sound muffled as soon a you haul something in the bed. I think its an interesting concept but I don’t

Agreed. I shouldn’t have suggested they weren’t scientists because the deal in statistics. They do say that “The crash rates are for all miles travelled before and after Autopilot installation and are not limited to actual Autopilot use.” in the study. So yea, taken with a grain of salt. But like a lot of studies I

A quick look around QCS’s site and it would seem like they have an axe to grind against the NHTSA since the 80's. Their main angle seems to try and sew doubt into the NHTSA investigations so they might just get some publicity like this. Also neither one of the principals educational backgrounds suggest science is

I can’t speak for the other manufacturers but from the Honda side there is a shocking amount of people out there that just don’t care about getting them fixed. Our dealer alone has several hundred open repair orders that we’ve contacted the owners and they haven’t scheduled or constantly no show. Unfortunately many of

Yea I think that is something that is constantly getting lost in these arguments. The truck driver started the scenario for the collision to occur and broke the law of the road while doing so. He failed to give right of way. I’m sure if you want to assign blame to the Tesla driver you could maybe cite a failure to

Hardly a 90 degree turn. Sure the camera perspective would make you assume so but with a car like that should be able to handle that corner no problem at speed. I think there is a slight dip before the slight right. Maybe that upset the car enough to screw his approach into the left hand.

Back when they were doing cash for clunkers the guys at my dealers would take turns going out to destroy the cars that were traded in. Well my day came and I set out for the lot with a bucket and a socket set to drain the oil in the 10 or so vehicles that we had and then fill them back up with the liquid glass to

Get a Hatch Sport if you want more barebones tech but with a manual and turbo. My holdout was for a Hatch Touring Sport in a manual but sadly I don’t think Honda is going to offer the sensing package with a manual. My long term experience with this gen Civic (besides working on them daily) is renting one for a 3000

Yea the 1.5l turbo in the Touring Sport is already tuned to 180 so I think you’re right in the 200-210 range. Even 190 would be decent, the Sport is already a blast to drive and that was with a CVT. Vtec and boost for days!

The metro area of Phoenix is 14,566 sq mi. That’s bigger than NYC and LA for what its worth. I don’t live there but every time I visit I forget how much driving is required to get to one place to another. You can really drive for an hour at 75mph and never leave town. Providing you don’t hit traffic, which you

Not to mention the fact that Honda had sent 20 letters to the registered owner of this particular vehicle involved and it still wasn’t brought in for repairs. Most of this generation of Civics have been under recall since 2008. For these models and the same era Accords the inflators are usually stocked at the local

Yea you can thank ZF for this crap. Honda decided to go with the 9HP transmission from ZF for the 2016 Pilot Touring and decided to go with push buttons. Ultimately it’s the suppliers saying this is what we got, make it work. The excuse is that it is “all electronic” and “there is no room for mechanical linkage.”

There is a reason why I chose to work on Hondas for 10 hrs a day for a paycheck instead of Jeeps though. Now Jeeps... well I save those for when I have free time on the weekend to tear the dash apart for the 100th time to chase down yet another electrical issue. However I like punishing myself and have always owned
