That was the first thing I thought of when I read the news. Why let Web OS die after all that work? And it would be truly leading edge stuff.. HP could use that to gauge the viability of new trends on the mobile space. Of course, HP is entirely too dumb to even think about doing this.

Why should you? Apple will support your device for 2 years (after which they will drop you like a bad habit). I came close to pulling the trigger on a Touchpad 2 weeks ago. It's a completely different world than iOS, and one that I don't mind.

With less competition, Apple will get more complacent than they already are. I'm on iOS 5, and I don't think they've done enough yet.

Possibly, if the bootloader isn't locked. I know it has the same processor some android tablets do. It may not be fully functional, but I think it's possible.
