This is the farthest damn thing from a derailment, oh my god. This is what’s exactly the situation so many young women are in or will be in, once the realities sink in. This is exactly, precisely the point and I’m so sorry this is even a thing anyone should be worrying about right now.

Glad (well, actually horrified) that so many of us were thinking the same thing. I’ve been worrying over reproductive rights since it became clear Trump would win. (As a former anti-choicer, I never thought I would see the day.)

I work for Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and greatly appreciate you including us. KIND and OneAmerica are also wonderful, as are Casa Latina and Asian Counseling and Referral Service here in the WA state area.

I want to add the Women’s Law Project- a feminist legal org doing reproductive rights advocacy work, violence against women systems advocacy, and economic equity. Based in Pennsylvania but with a national impact.

Please add Center for Inspired Teaching (inspiredteaching.org) to your list. If nothing else, this election was about the deep deep failure of our school system to teach critical thinking, compassion, empathy, media literacy, etc. We’re working to solve that.

In terms of environmental organizations, we also need to worry about access to and privatization of public lands. The Republican Party Playform calls for turning National Parks and Forests to the states, which will jeopardize their preservation for future generations. One organization working against this is

Important to note: please take your donations local as well. With the inevitable cuts and restrictions on the horizon, it’s the small local nonprofits and branch offices that will be under the greatest pressure to get the funding they need to keep their programs running. And the fact that your money passes through

Forward Together’s a women of color-led organization doing work around racism, reproductive rights, ending mass incarceration, economic rights, lgbtqia+ equality, immigration...the list goes on and on. Donate here. They’re scrappy and could use the money

I feel like this has irreparably damaged the office of POTUS, tbh. It used to be prestigious, and you had to work for it for decades, postition yourself, gain knowledge and skill and directly-related experience. Now we’ve elected a reality tv star with no ability to form a coherent paragraph, much less policy, and

This. I don’t hate people for voting differently than me because, like, they support a different taxation scheme than I do. I will damn well hate people who voted differently than me because they think that it’s hilarious to mock people like me for being disabled. I will damn well hate people who voted differently

To all the idiots in swing states who voted for a third party candidate out of “protest,” FUCK YOU.

That’s really the only response. Some idiots I know are all like “don’t hate people because they voted different than you!”

I’m not sure who will be happier to see Alec Baldwin out of a recurring SNL gig: Alec Baldwin or me. Or who is luckier that Kate McKinnon is a regular SNL cast member: SNL or the rest of the country.

Between this comment and your feelings toward Investigation Discovery (and bongs; and losing days to tv), I feel like we may be kindred spirits... Or, at least, two people who have impeccable taste.

Really guys? Lester Kanopf? Oh...sorry Lester.

Jewel’s response is lovely:

It’s vague because the totality of the subject is kind of enormous, and I’m honestly not sure where to start. Again, I may have to be vague, because any more detailed discussion would either be limited in its application to one specific aspect of “rape culture”, or would necessarily be epically long. However, one

You say that the family’s reactions are perfectly natural given that they’re experiencing extreme cognitive dissonance and are the product of a culture that treats rape as an extraordinary circumstance (magic, as you say). This is certainly true, but in your account of our culture, you seem to be suggesting that men

NOPE. There’s peaceful protest that reminds him daily of what he has done (either in silence or in shouting, but always at an appropriate distance) and then there’s men outside his house carrying weapons and threatening to rape him. The second one sounds uncomfortably like the threats posed to the gamer women who are
