Pretty sure that Moses is a fictional biblical character. But still.

YES! Sweet justice.
So I take it you can't actually name an evolutionary psychology book you've read or researcher whose work you're very familiar with?
I would say having some background in experimental psychology or, you know, any kind of degree or background in psychology or evolutionary biology at all would be nice. And maybe actually having read a substantial number of papers or books in the field, which I suspect you have not. An MD means you are a clinician,…
I would say the same thing of your arrogance. I would honestly want to see a list of the original research articles you've read in the field of evolutionary psychology. I don't have a problem with seeing criticism of evolutionary psychology but not from people who don't have the background knowledge to discuss it…
Because you know enough about the discipline to dismiss it outright? I doubt it.
Freud, Jung, and Lacan?!?!?!?!??!?!
The man is clearly wrong on the science here, but even if this were true, what does it even matter?
Totally, I agree. But then just please, please don't report on it at all then. It's irresponsible to put bad science reporting out there.
Woah, I mostly work with mammals doing some stuff with sperm competition but mostly proximate mechanisms of sexual behaviour/sexual differentiation. But I am currently working on a project with tree crickets also!! Sexual selection is really what interests me most. And I LOVE LOVE insects.
I see what you're saying but if they can't get their shit together when it comes to science reporting then don't report on it at all.
I mean it's not easy, but jeez.
Exactly. And in my opinion the reality is that evolutionary science or evolutionary psychology doesn't conflict with feminism at all anyways. There is just so much bad science reporting on these things that people just shut down when they see studies like this and don't even try to understand them.
Yup I totally agree. It's not that I don't think lay people are entitled to opinions about science but if you don't have a background in science at all, don't report on it. Because in this case it really showed.
What insect do you work with?!?
What in the ever loving fuck are you talking about.
Uhhhh neuroscience is a branch of psychology... So is cognitive psychology. Or developmental neuroscience. Etc. So that's laughable.
Yeah, I could see that. My field is largely the same. It can get very frustrating to try and talk to people about why I do :\
Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that, it sounds like US healthcare sucks :(
This was very well said. What is your field?
