Yes, I'm beginning to see how so many people get in trouble for resisting arrest or "assaulting" cops.

I would feel pretty abused if I'd been in her position. As a young white woman from the suburbs, I've never seen anything like that before. I felt sick watching the video and I can't imagine how she must've been feeling. It's hard to feel cooperative when your arresting cop appears to be an abusive crazy shithead.
Personally, I don't think I'd like the office culture if I had to work alongside guys like that. That's a big factor.
I feel like he didn't get many dates in high school.
Her tone is defensive, since he was the instigator. And yes, he is in a position of authority, so it's different. I agree that maybe it wasn't the best way OUT of the situation, but she shouldn't have to just bend over and take it up the tail pipe because this little dweeb of a cop is on a power trip. There is value…
I care about my civil liberties and don't think I should be asked to "identify" myself just for crossing the street. My time is worth more than that. What a bunch of crap.
Sorry but I think we both know that's an implausible scenario given what we saw in the video.
If you can't handle your shit when someone is rude to you, don't be a cop.
He was being EXTREMELY rude and she just wanted him to change his tone. Is that really so unreasonable? Also WTF is up with this "you will be arrested for failing to present your ID" thing? Do we live in the fucking USSR where you have to carry around your papers lest you be arrested for no reason?
I'm not sure I can agree - honestly, I thought the cop WAS extremely rude to her. Just because he is a police officer doesn't mean he is entitled to speak to people the way he did. She was demanding basic respect and politeness from him and he didn't like that, clearly.
I felt sick watching this. Can we throw this man to the fucking wolves?? What a pathetic little man that he needs to get his kicks abusing law-abiding university professors.
What do you mean "that makes us look good on IQ tests"? Are you implying that people in STEM fields have higher tested IQs than, say, Journalists or something? Because I have SERIOUS doubts about that.
For the record I think Helen Fischer is kind of a hack.
Agreed. These societies are kind of vomit-inducing.
Sounds about right.
Well actually, it is a pretty useful and reliable metric. I still think high IQ societies are silly though.
Sorry but even as a scientist I am kind of offended by the suggestion that people in STEM fields are obviously more intelligent than, say, people with English or philosophy degrees. Come on now.
VOMIT. I just looked up the website. Sorry, but scoring in the top .1% of the GREs or GMAT is hardly the same as doing so with the WAIS. Also, honestly, what is the point of paying to join a society whose only purpose for existence is to allow you to brag to all your friends about how high your IQ is?
Check and check on the existential depression and heavy drinking. Although if we're being honest here I hardly think being in the top 2% intelligence-wise qualifies you as a "genius".
If she wants to have plastic surgery, spend all of her free time working on her body, etc, then fine. But don't project your issues onto your sibling. That's sick. It's even more sick that the media feels the need to comment constantly on his weight gain. Has he been in the news for anything else lately? I mean, leave…
