Reading the comments section of Jezebel makes me sick. Why do these people go to bat for monsters like this?

See, that’s the thing. It don’t matter if MLK was resurrected and had part of this: too many folks remember Tuskegee and Henrietta.  We KNOW how we are treated by the medical establishment, and asking us to trust and to trust quick is asking a bit much.  Especially our older folks, some of who still think they blessed…

I do trust that the vaccines are safe. But this does reek of, “Our vaccine is totally not racist because a black woman worked on it.” What gives me skepticism isn’t the vaccines themselves, but the transport and proper handling at vaccination stations.

So? A black woman also worked on the Tuskegee Experiment.

Um..so what? It’s cool that a sister worked on it and everything, but so what? People will take it when they’re good and ready and you’ll just have to deal.

Yeah but in this context, black folks being suspicious of going first and being guinea pigs for US government science, makes way more logical sense. It’s probably partially misplaced, but still...

That was de Leon’s mistake. He should have painted Feinstein as out of touch, someone that didn’t represent the state, and gone after her for her age. Those attacks would have landed and might have put him in the Senate.

Yeah, I’ve heard that about him. I also heard that women were warned not to get in an elevator alone with him, Ted Kennedy, or Jesse Helms among others. Yet all of them kept getting reelected until they started attracting flies.

California has a Top-Two system where the top two vote getters in the primary move to the general, regardless of party. The general in 2018 was between her and Kevin de Leon, another Democrat termed out of his state senate job who was far more progressive.

A friend of mine used to work for Strom. Dude used to pee in potted plants. The only reason he had an aide with him was to make sure he didn't do that.

There has to be a better solution than telling his aides to make sure Grandma didn’t leave the oven on again, right? We don’t want a repeat of the Strom Thurmond farce where they wheeled a fucking vegetable into the Senate.

Age IS a problem.  Don’t get old.  Trust me, it sucks.
