I keep maintaining those first 3 movies you mention could’ve been solid basis for a teamup.

I could see Kang as a big bad and see it more be about time (which tbf is kinda similar to multiverse but with some distinction IMO) but I see what you’re saying.

Especially since that’s what Winter Soldier was for the Cap films.

It’s because it’s just dumb fun like the first Avengers. By then, Winter Soldier had shown an MCU movie could actually be good.

I feel like the fact that standards are so disparate in different circumstances is part of the problem though.

I don’t get the obsession with a certain Batman that existed in a certain context.

Maybe people would like DC’s stuff more if they didn’t say, release movies about other characters between another better publicized movie about a character who has same (former) name from Marvel, and the biggest movie ever.

This is why I was lowkey so up for a JL2 with WW as leader and Aquaman, Shazam! and Flash with no Batman and Superman. Would’ve been so different, fun and IMO successful.

That explains a lot. Just like how after the HBO Chernobyl miniseries, so many in the Stranger Things fandom want it to tie into next season of Stranger Things, despite Challenger disaster happening around the same time and being something that would make way more sense to be tied to American kids in 1980's.

Yeah, that’s who I meant and I agree.

No,this headline was confusing for us non LOTR book readers.

What would be less insulting? Having a shitty CGI T’Challa that the actor isn’t around to consent to?

But casting him because “his star is on the rise” is not necessarily a good reason. I remember when Jennifer Lawrence’s “star was on the rise”. I’m glad she wasn’t given like Wonder Woman or some other iconic role.

“It’s perfect (other than the fact his character is dead)”

Feels pretty self-explanatory to me. They’re doing stuff in the world of Wakanda without T’Challa specifically.

Why would you have to recast? Just write in T’Challa’s death offscreen and you wouldn’t have to do anything with Shuri.

But MBJ is good in THAT role, not necessarily T’Challa. This movie critic youtuber Cosmonaut Variety Hour has this part of a video (although I can’t find it now) where he talks about how Will Smith isn’t an especially great actor, but carries movies through his charm.

Why is everyone on this Michael B Jordan T’Challa train? I may get hate for this, but it’s pretty clear to me he’s not nearly the actor Chadwick was, and I’ve especially never seen anything to convince me he’d fit that part specifically.

I’m really optimistic. I think Watts has gotten to heart of Spidey really well. And if there’s one thing MCU has shown, it’s willingness to be weird. That’s what all the FF films so far were missing IMO.

No one forced them to set it in 1984 for absolutely no reason.
