As a mechanic, the two most annoying ones I get are “Can you find me (generic hard to find car with low mileage in perfect shape for under $2k)?” or people who phone me at work and ask me how to fix their own car.

It was ridiculous for what it was. I found it in a salvage yard for $300 needing an alternator... snagged one off of a base model 323 parked next to it, installed it in the yard and drove the car home. For such a small little car, it was FAST, and just loved twisty gravel roads... I didn’t know much about the car when

I love how they advertised the Lucas driving lights on the covers. “Leave the covers on... the lights don’t work!”

10/10 would drive.

They were kind of like a diesel, but with spark plugs.

I bought a pair of AE86s for $300 once. A rotten GT-S Coupe and a solid SR-5 Hatch... was going to swap the guts over the hatch, but both were stolen in the same night and probably went to scrap.

My dad had one of these in 1987 (When I was 4). In brown, SR-5, etc.

Hyundai Pony. The US never got them, Canada did, as a test market. It was a discarded Toyota body design, a Mitsubishi forklift engine, rear wheel drive with leaf springs in the back. They were fucking horrible... but they were designed to last 5 years, and were basically advertised as nothing more. My Pony was an

I’ve been wrenching since age 6 when my dad bought a ‘74 Beetle to restore. I’m 32 now, the Bug still isn’t done, but I’m a Volkswagen technician now.

I had one of these for my first car. It was horrible. I loved it and would love to own another one.

Well, if any of them make it to Canada, these guys specialize in selling cars like this!

Fuck I miss my E30.

I’m just building my own...

I just cackled while quietly looking at my phone in a public place.

Opening the hood voids the warranty.

Ridiculously overdone. Having said that- the side profile is incredible, and so are the seats.

I’m in the process of building a car I can take damn near anywhere, and live in. Not exclusively, as I do like my house, but I’d like to be able to leave for a week or two and not have to think about where I’m going to stay depending on where the road takes me.

This was extremely enjoyable to read. Thank you.

I’d have trouble parting them out. I’ve parted out 911s in the past. It hurt.
