In all fairness, the movie tries to explain this by pointing out that she's not an astronaut, she's a scientist/researcher with a specific set of skills and bare-bones space travel training. The reason she's up there is because she's supposedly one of the few people with the skills necessary to conduct the research.

Magic Mike came out about a year before Mud, isn't that when the McConaissance really got going?

Personally, I sneer at The Hold Steady and ICP with equal disdain.

I think you are misinterpreting me. I'm talking about not reading critiques that you don't find useful or enlightening and looking for critiques that you do find worthwhile from another writer. I'm not advocating not engaging with pop culture analysis (positive or negative), but instead finding the writers that are

I'm not arguing against people discussing the show or reading a critical take on the the episodes. On the contrary, I want people to read a take on the episodes that the find worthwhile. Many commenters find Sonia's take on the show insufficient or inadequate so why not read another reviewer (from a different source)

I'm not complaining I'm just wondering why people keep reading a reviewer who they don't think brings anything worthwhile to the conversation. Surely, there are other episodic reviews of this show out there on the Internet.

No need to apologize.

I don't see why you are concerned about the AV Club's business model at all. My point is: don't consume content that you don't like. Or do, just don't complain about it ad nauseam. And by "you" I don't mean "you" personally, just in general.

I forgot it's the Internet. Everything is deserving of hate.

Just because you don't want to go to another website to read a review doesn't make it not a valid option. But alas, if people want to keep submitting themselves to reading content they don't like and then complaining when it doesn't meet their expectations that's their prerogative.

In a way the people who are constantly complaining about the quality of the reviews week after week are the ones shutting down conversation about the show, by making the comments all about the reviewer instead of the episode.

At a certain point complaining every week about the quality of the reviews is like shouting into the void. There are plenty of reviewers here whose writing I don't particularly like and that doesn't stop me from engaging with the commentariat. It's free content. I didn't like Sonia's take on Masters of Sex last year

Wait, does the world hate me or OP?

You know what's useful when you don't like a certain reviewer's take on a show, don't read their reviews.

Nice straw man.

Here's a better look at it. It looks really awesome.

He/she's playing hard to get.

Lance is not dead! Is it too early to hope for the return of Slade? I need Manu Bennett on TV on a regular basis.

I think he's always assumed that if you are watching the show you are more or less familiar with the canon, which isn't necessarily a fair assumption to make, but there's a statute of limitation on spoilers past a certain point.

From my understanding of the live-tweets of the panel, the introduction of Dollarhyde will be in season 3 leading into the Red Dragon story playing out over most of season 4. So the plans haven't fundamentally changed as far as that's concerned. I'm thinking Dollarhyde will commit the murders that have already
