I love paraprofessionals. Nine times out of ten, when you want to know what is really going on with a student, ask the para!
Stassa, I don't usually jump in to correct writers, but the NYT piece you quote says she is a paraprofessional. Paraprofessionals are not teachers, and do not hold teaching credentials. They work in a support role.
TL/DR, This woman is not a teacher. She's a paraprofessional. Many boring details about educationally related mental health services can be found below.
Kind of reminds of when I went on a cruise that visited Belize. We went on a tour when that was our day in port, and saw how insanely poor Belize was. People had houses with three walls and a roof, made of cardboard, milk crates and pop cans. One thing the poor people in Belize did take pride in, though, was their…
Apparently she was also a sub. A surprising number of these "abuse by a teacher" stories turn out to involve subs, and it's almost never clarified in the headline. I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get into teaching, and subs in some states only have to have a high school diploma, so it's annoying.
How fucking witless do you have to be to not understand that this is hugely inappropriate? I've traveled extensively in SE Asia and it's really obvious, even without bothering to learn anything about the culture, that public nudity is not acceptable. Thanks a bunch for furthering the "dumb American" stereotype.
Just to note, while this is horrible (as a NY state teacher myself), a paraprofessional =/= teacher. They are usually a teacher's aide or personal aide. The NYT has this in their headline correctly.
i think its bc when a male teacher is sleeping with a female student (high schooler) it is considered by (students or the general younger population) to be really fucking gross & creepy
there are a lot more women rapists than people think
I think you have every right to be angry, because that's some bullshit behavior. Just try not to let it take over.
I'm sure Sophie is probably healthier than an average 50-year-old, but I feel for that child when Mom starts having health issues and then the middle schooler or high schooler has to have that extra burden of taking care of her. It's hard enough for adult kids to take care of their aging parents.
w.o.w.
I am so sorry for your loss.
In five years or so, Perry and Swift are going to finally realize that they are actually in love with each other, get married, and live happily ever after. And they'll get matching restraining orders against Mayer as wedding presents to each other. Calling it now.
I only have one problem with this story: Chris Evans is not in his Captain America costume. They should go around in costume together.
Ugh, this Jenner story is so triggering. My mother's killer (19 year old, speeding and texting, hit her head on) was just sentenced on Wednesday. A couple of fines and three years probation for hitting her car so hard that her steering wheel bent around her after it went through her and into her seat back. But he's…
::dry heaves because of her hysterical crying::
literally don't know anything about the Simpson sisters other than the fact that they get pregnant
Overused but always appropriate.
