It is sad that a tweet had more truth and concern in it than an official statement. 

I don’t understand this. I remember mitt Romney running against Obama, and he had a plan to fix the economy, and he rightly just kept it to himself until he was elected, so Obama couldn’t use it to fix the economy and get re elected. And then when he lost, he left america to burn in ruin than give up his plan.

He was armed, but the police had no actual clue he was armed. The police want to make sure they push the narrative he was armed (as they do with anyone carrying anything that could be used as a weapon, no matter if it was a pocket knife deep in the bottom of his back pack).
