It seems like the only reasonable use for this system would be to allow a car’s onboard computer upload cutting edge software:
Aiming the laser directly at the pavement makes more sense. That way the “squishiness” of the tire doesn’t mess you up.

I think this is my favorite Fiat. Completely 80's. As a kid, I had the Bertone brochure and dreamt of having one. I got to work on one once, and sadly realized there was no way I could ever fit in it.
My vote is for a Crosley.
That does look like a knock off...like Luxus, Panashiba or Kennethwood.
If they could use 3D printing to cheaply print the stamping dies, then that would be awesome. You could speed up improvements getting into new cars.
I remember an old episode of ‘The People’s Court’ where a guy was suing over damage someone did to his Glas. Wapner said something like “What the hell is that?” Wapner and Rusty trudged out to inspect it, pronounced it a piece of crap and gave the guy like 5 bucks.
I guess the valve (or seat) can’t fall into the cylinder like the SPI motor in the old Focus.
I agree that they are not likely to use them against us, but I think there is a greater chance that Putin uses nukes against a former Soviet satellite to make an example of them and then walk in to re-form the USSR under some new name.

Passenger space is awesome on these. Also, front passenger seat folds flat to carry a canoe in a pinch. Very nice car and you can get them cheap. My personal recommendation is the 2008 and later versions (Taurus/Sable). Better engine and slightly better looks in my opinion.
